Which synthetic estrogen is safest, Estradiol Valerate, Mestranol, or Ethinyl Estradiol?

Which synthetic estrogen is safest, Estradiol Valerate, Mestranol, or Ethinyl Estradiol?

Synthetic meds: 1st no such thing as free lunch ie there's always some potential risk or side effect. 2nd FDA only approves meds which they deem benefit greater than risk (tho obviously not w/o disagreement & controversy). 3rd no studies demonstrate benefit of any oral estrogen over another tho some studies suggest topical safe than oral. 4th Natural isn't safe than synthetic ie tobacco is natural but isn't safe! ...Read more

I've been spotting for the past 7-8 months. I was switched to a higher dose (natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest) from beyaz) and it still hasn't stopped. Any suggestions?

I've been spotting for the past 7-8 months. I was switched to a higher dose (natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest) from beyaz) and it still hasn't stopped. Any suggestions?

Need estrogen: Assuming all things gynecologically are normal--paps, etc.--breakthrough midcycle bleeding is a symptom of inadequate estrogen support that should mimic the normal midcycle estrogen spike. If this isn't quite what's going on--if the bleeding is at other times, ultrasound and endometrial biopsy may be needed. ...Read more

How does Natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest) compare to other BC pills in terms of health/safety risks, side effects, and patient satisfaction?

How does Natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest) compare to other BC pills in terms of health/safety risks, side effects, and patient satisfaction?

Similar: The risks, side-effects, and patient satisfaction have been very similar in my patients. I think a lot of patients do well with any pill but there are some who are more of a challenge. When it comes to finding the right pill for them it is the art rather than the science of medicine. Natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest) works well for some of these but not so for others. Itdoes have the safety of the low dose pills. Hope this helps ...Read more

F24, have my blood clotting test results. Appt was norm, inr of 1.3, fibrogen 1.43, norm2-4.need to be concerned? Can I start take natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest)?

Why the tests?: It is not typical to have clotting disorder testing done prior to starting birth control. Your doctor must have ordered these things for some particular reason or out of some concern in your medical or family history. Despite your normal results check with the ordering physician to clarify the plan of care before starting any medication. ...Read more

I've been diagnosed with adenomyosis. Doctor has me on natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest). Would progesterone only pills be more beneficial for me?

Unsure: Adenomyosis does not respond to medical treatment like other problems do. Medicine is very unpredictable. Lots of things can be tried and combined and altered. So you have to keep trying things. The only proven therapy is hysterectomy. ...Read more

Ovulating in right ovary. Sonographer told me. I switched frm sprintec to natazia (estradiol valerate and dienogest). Why am I ovulating? Ur not supposed to ovulate on birth control.

Misspoke: The sonographer was probably commenting on the presence of a cyst as on cannot really see ovulation on ultrasound. Cyst are common and not necessarily a problem. Discuss this with your doctor who has more training and likely better information than the sonographer. ...Read more
