Estradiol Vaginal Ring (Overview)

Estradiol is the shortened version of 17 beta estradiol, a naturally occurring sex hormone in the estrogen family. In fact, it is the most active and the most prevalent of the three main Estrogens in reproductive age women. In women, it decreases dramatically after menopause. Estradiol is also present in males in small amounts.

Very complicated: Spironolactone is a blood pressure medicine, but it also blocks a certain testosterone receptor in the skin. So gyns often use it to help with acne or excessive hair growth. It is possible your "high estrogen could be due to the underlying hormonal problem that led to the need to take spironolactone, but not to the spironolactone itself.
