Allergic to pcn since a baby. Use ees (erythromycin ethyl succinate) instead.?

Yes: Macrolide antibiotics like ees (erythromycin ethyl succinate) will be safe. But if your allergic reaction was some time ago, you may want to consider seeing an allergist for pcn testing. Skin testing is now very accurate. You may have outgrown your pcn allergy, or may have even been misdiagnosed, which happens often. ...Read more

My son had a boil positive for mrsa. They put him on eryped (erythromycin ethyl succinate)?

My son had a boil positive for mrsa. They put him on eryped (erythromycin ethyl succinate)?

Question?: It is not clear what you are asking. Assume it is whether or not this therapy is appropriate? Erythromycin may be effective against many strains of mrsa, but only the sensitivity pattern from the lab can tell you this, or clinical failure. It sounds reasonable since the other choices may not be usable in children, have a high degree of allergic reactions or are very expensive. ...Read more

My son had a boil on his bottom lanced and tested positive for mrsa. They put him on eryped (erythromycin ethyl succinate) for 10 days. Will this cure him?

Maybe: The lancing may cure the issue more than the med. I have not found that med very helpful with MRSA, as cross resistance is common, but it might help. Clindomycin or Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) will usually kill the MRSA germ. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my son had a boil on his bottom lanced and tested positive for mrsa. they put him on eryped (erythromycin ethyl succinate) for 10 days.?

Hard to predict: The act of draining the boil may be the primary thing that allows it to heal. That would not be the antibiotic I would choose as back up but my choice is based on local germ sensitivities published by the local labs. ...Read more

What happen if i lost a little bit erythromycin while mixing it to ethyl alcohol while making benzamycin?

What happen if i lost a little bit erythromycin while mixing it to ethyl alcohol while making benzamycin?

Benzamycin: Benzamycin is 5% benzoyl peroxide and 3% erythromycin. Clinical studies with acne now show that topical Erythromycin and topical Clindamycin are not effective for acne.
