Experienced hairloss/thinning & cystic acne. Taking ocella (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) & spironolactone 25mg. Acne under control not thinning. Can i switch vitex for ocella (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol)?
NO: Ocella (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is a birth control pill which helps acne. Vitex is of no value ; is sold with false claims to take advantage of people: it will do nothing for acne ; it will not prevent pregnancy. The usual dose of spironolactone for acne is 50- 100 mg, sometimes 200mg. You will see improvement after 3 menst periods. Hair loss might improve with larger dose of spironolactone. See a dermatologist for help w. ...Read more

There are many pills that have less estrogen which is better- less chance for estrogen related side effects. My number one pill i prescribe is loloestin, it only has 10 mcg estrogen which is safer and it has 24 active pills and then 2 estrogen pills so only 2 placebo pills , so you get lighter periods and less chance of a cys. ...Read more

Libido: Libido is a complex psychological process. I would say that perhaps Wellbutrin (bupropion) can help but only in a round about way. If your lack of libido is related to depressions and/or fatigue and exhaustion then taking an antidepressant may help with the psychological part of libido. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Side Efects: If your side effects were definitely due to the BC, than any other BC with a different type of hormonal combination etc. would be a better alternative. With your all your symptoms I would question whether they aware all indeed due to the BC. Be sure to follow-up with your Dr. and get assessed and possibly treated for an underlying depression that was brought out by the situation. Best wishes. ...Read more

Do not take: There is no reason to be taking a birth control pill while you are pregnant. I assume you are referring to an accidental exposure early in pregnancy before you knew you were pregnant. The overwhelming majority of these cases turn out just fine with no long term problems. There are case reports of some complications, but they are rare. Stop your pill please. ...Read more

Perception.: Sadly, in america being thin is prized. Thin people are extensively used a role models (see ffilm, advertising etc). As a result, someone can come to perceive only thin people as being "normal". Our perception of healthy becomes warped. My guess is that you scrutinize your body and weight a little too much. How about aiming for healthy rather than thin? Take care. ...Read more
Interesting question: There are certainly some people with antisocial personality disorder whose exploitative and devious behavior towards others might be called "evil." however, i think there are some whose behavior is not due to a medical condition but is a conscious choice.
