Low Vit D: A vitamin D level of 9 is very low, and typically requires large doses of vitamin D to correct. 50,000 IU of ergocalciferol (Vit D2) is equally effective as Vit D3, but D3 is not easily obtained in that high a dose, and typically is not covered by insurance. Unlikely: Excessive amounts resulting in hypervitaminosis D can cause impairment of renal function with polyuria, nocturia, polydipsia, hypercalciuria, reversible azotemia, hypertension, nephrocalcinosis, generalized vascular calcification, or irreversible renal insufficiency which may result in death, but certainly not with your having taken only 2 doses of that dosage.
