Since epipen (epinephrine) can temporary relax the air way, can epipen (epinephrine) used for asthma attack in emergency situations when no asthma medication available?

Certain foods, stinging/biting insects, medications, and latex can set off allergic reactions -- including hives, itching, flushing, and swelling of the lips, tongue, and roof of mouth; throat & chest tightness, etc. Date rape drugs cause entirely different effects -- unless you're allergic. ...Read more
Help please! is epipen (epinephrine) jr auto injectors used for all allergic reactions or just emergency reactions?
Limited use: The value of an Epipen (epinephrine) is its ability to help block a tragic evolving allergic reaction and provide time for a person to reach urgent followup care. It's effect is relatively short (hour or so).If you simply break out in hives as a food reaction, it could help some, but since the food will be processed in your body for days, a longer agent like Diphenhydramine or citirazine would be more benificial. ...Read more

None that I know of: Certainly avoid things that can attract bees like perfume, hair spray or fragrant lotions. Bees are attracted to flowers & if you smell like one you may draw them in. If you were in my office I could draw up a single dose of epi for you to carry, but it would have the data assuring effectiveness for long. Maybe you can get your doc to consider doing this until you have access. ...Read more

2 is better: Anaphylaxis treatment can be unpredictable and sometimes requires 2 doses or more of epi. Hence, if the 1st dose isn't successful at reversing anaphylaxis symptoms, having another dose is great. At the same time, seeking immediate medical attention is important as sometimes, IV fluids are required if the EpiPen (epinephrine) is unsuccessful at elevating the blood pressure if the blood pressure is low. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
