Not the best choice: If due to bacteria sensitive to the cephalosporin antibiotics, cefuroxime should work fine. But knowing this requires a urine cuture with antimicrobial susceptibility testing if positive. If such testiing hasn't been done, this is a poor antibiotic choice. Normally a fluoroquinolone, e.g. levofloxacin. Or if under age 35, ceftriaxone + doxycycline for likely chlamydia or gonorrhea. ...Read more

Probably OK, but...: Meropenem would cover most bacteria that cause epididymo-orchitis, especially in older men, who are likely to be infected with typical urinary tract infection bacteria like E. coli and others. However, the most common cause in younger men (below age 35) is chlamydia. which may not respond to this antibiotic.
