My monocytes and eosinophils high and my neutrophils low. What does this mean? Also why is my total protein and globulin high?

Need values: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to have the actual values rather your interpretation of high and low. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my monocytes and eosinophils high and my neutrophils low. Also why is my total protein and globulin high?

Need for evaluation: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your test results suggest chronic inflammation, but it is not feasible to be specific without more history, physical examination, maybe imaging studies and additional tests. Cleveland clinic would be a good place to seek care. ...Read more

Lymphocyte percentage high. Eosinophils high. Basophils absolute count low. MCH & MCHC low. Hair falling out of body. Feeling pins & needles. Is there link?

Lymphocyte percentage high. Eosinophils high. Basophils absolute count low. MCH & MCHC low. Hair falling out of body. Feeling pins & needles. Is there link?

No: The percentage numbers on your CBC mean nothing apart from absolute counts. Low basophils never mean anything, and high eos matter only if they're way-high. You're anemic and losing body hair, somebody's put you on two vitamins for some reason without giving you a full explanation. You need a hematology, dermatology & maybe endocrine consult. There's no single cause. Insist on answers. ...Read more

Have chronic mouth sores, leg pain in right leg, with light edema, normal cbcw dif, except high eosinophil%, high # neutrophil, and high # eosinophil?

Many choices: There are many possible causes for your symptoms. If this is new it could be a simple allergy or insect bite. If this has been going on long term it could be part of an eosinophilic syndrome, autoimmune disease, or many other problems. The appearance of the sores and duration of symptoms will help if you want to restate the question. ...Read more

Low neutrphils, high lymphocytes, high eosinophils, high basophils. Could it be caused by norco, (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) high altitude, or viral?

Could be viral: Although usually you have high neutrophils. Narcotics don't have any effect on eosinophils. Your numbers as you report them are unusual enough, that you shoudl definitely talk to your doctor. ...Read more

Is 9.5% eosinophil count high?

Is 9.5% eosinophil count high?

Hard to say: More important that the percentage of eosinophils is the actual number of them in the blood. If your total white blood cell count is low, that % may be normal. If the total WBC is high, that % may equal a high absolute number of eos. In general, a slightly elevated % or absolute eosinophil count is most likely to be due to allergic disease. See your doctor or an allergist for more info. ...Read more

What can cause low neutrophils, high eosinophils and high limphocytes?

Depends: It depends on how high the eosinophil count is. If it is over 1500 on more than one occasions, you need to see an allergist or hematologist. Many things can cause high lymphocyte counts (viral infection, leukemia etc). ...Read more

Eosinophils are high and have psoriasis and had esophagitis? Maybe allergies?

Eosinophils are high and have psoriasis and had esophagitis? Maybe allergies?

Maybe...: The eosinophils correlate with allergies, but the psoriasis is often thought of as the other "arm" of the immune system; we usually think of atopic dermatitis (eczema) as more on the allergic side, so this is not the usual situation. There is a small subset of psoriasis patients who respond to gluten avoidance (or other allergen avoidance) so it might be worth getting tested by an allergist. ...Read more

Should I be worried if my lymphocytes are low (14.8 L) and my eosinophils are high (6.9 H) but all other blood work looks great?

Should I be worried if my lymphocytes are low (14.8 L) and my eosinophils are high (6.9 H) but all other blood work looks great?

Not necessarily: Although your result is out of normal range, it's difficult to know the significance of the finding without knowing your medical history and the reason the lab was done. If it was done as part of a routine lab screen and you are feeling healthy the abnormalities do not necessarily mean you have a problem. Some patients can fall out of the normal range for years without evidence of illness. ...Read more

Hi, according to my last couple wbc tests my neutrophils are low and eosinophils are high. Numbers improved a bit. Last test showed 38.2%/6% Worry?

Need further attenti: Your Eosinophil count (38%) is very high indicating that something abnormal is going on in your body / blood. This will require further testing by visiting an internist or a hematologist. Also tell us about your complete CBC report including Hb, WBC, Differential count and platelet count. Mild anemia: Without your complete CBC and history, the eosinophils along with anemia paints a picture either of chronic infection, parasitism, or drug reaction with eosinophilia. Hence, with limited data, we can have limited answers. Or it could be entirely off by a wide margin. So do tell more and take care. ...Read more

What is the indication of a low lymphocytes, low monocytes, low ferritin, high eosinophils, and high mch?

Iron deficiency: You most likely have iron deficiency. Percentages of lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophils may not be pertinent. It is the absolute numbers of these cells that is important. The low ferritin likely represents iron deficiency. As a 39 year old woman, menstrual blood loss and perhaps recent pregnancies may be the cause, but you should see your doctor to determine why you might be iron deficient. ...Read more

I have a low platelet count of 40 alongwith high eosinophil count & high platelet volume, ocassionally I feel tired and palpitation too. Please suggest?

Platelet problems: Low platelets (thrombocytopenia) are due to either decreased production or increased destruction of your platelets. A hematologist can assist you in finding the cause. This usually involves a bone marrow biopsy which is reviewed by a hematopathologist. A high eosinophil count can be seen with allergic conditions. See a board certified hematologist and start the workup. ...Read more

What does high eosinophils mean?

Possibly allergy: Eosinophils are one type of white blood cell. These cells are created in the bone marrow and released into the blood. These cells can be increased in several settings, such as allergies (to drugs and other things), in response to some infections (especially parasites), and in some inflammatory and neoplastic (potentially malignant) blood disorders. See a doc who knows your clinical setting... ...Read more

Would a high IG (.03 10*9/L) and high Eosinophils (.92 10*9/L) suggest any specific condition or disease?

Yes but: The diagnosis of a disease depends on the symptoms and physical findings. Tests are mostly used to confirm the diagnosis or assess the disease activity. If you do have very high IgG and persistently elevated eos (your are more compatible with allergic rhinitis and asthma) but are otherwise healthy, just monitoring would be sufficient. ...Read more

What is the cure for a 5yr old if eosinophils count is high?

Variable diagnosis: This could be a due to a number of things. Proper treatment would require an identification of the cause through exam and testing before a treatment plan could be formulated. The eosinophils are up some in allergies, up a lot in some parasite infections, and very high in some blood disorders. The plan should originate from the doc who knows the kid the best, or his/her referral source. ...Read more

What does high Eosinophils - 10 indicate? Also a A1c of 5.8...are they related?

Nothing by itself: If you feel well, ignore it. It's there as one piece of information for any workup that needs to be done for a symptom or sign. As such, it can be very useful, but worrying about minor blips when you feel well is a waste. The A1c is worth discussing with your physician. ...Read more

What could a constant reading of high eosinophil mean? I am celiac but have a strict die.

Depends: Parasitic diseases, allergic reactions to medication, and inflammatory conditions (asthma, eczema, arthritis) are among the more common causes of eosinophilia. So you could have celiac and one of these conditions. However, there is developing data to suggest a link between celiac disease and eosinophilic esophagitis, especially in the pediatric population. ...Read more

Is high eosinophils count related to hiv?

Depends: Eoisinophil counts can increase due to some infections (parasites), allergies and allergic reactions, connective tissue disorders, and some neoplasms (cancers). Hiv typically does not cause an elevation in these cells. However, if someone has an opportunistic infection like some kinds of parasites, the eopsinophil count can increase. Cd4 t-cells are typically affected by HIV infection. ...Read more
