What does entamoeba histolytica look like when in the hands? If I am correct than i would have had it for years is that possible?

Amoebiasis: Have no idea what you are referring to when you say e. Histolytica "in the hands". This parasite produces colitis, following which it may disseminate to other areas of the body, most commonly the liver, lungs, brain, other tissues and can be fatal. The organism can persist in the colon for many years. It produces cysts and trophyozoites which can be seen in the stool microscopically. ...Read more

Treat Entamoeba: If a confirmed diagnosis, standard treatment is Metronidazole orally or iv. Tinidazole or Chloroquine can be substituted. Response to rx usually occurs in 4 days. Most experts recommend the addition of iodoquinol, diloxanide, or paromomycin to eradicate residual amebae in the gut. Be sure there is no pyogenic coinfection. Liver abscess?: Difficult to answer without knowing more about your history and how you acquired amebiasis and your initial symptoms. Would not expect fever and malaise 2 months after treatment. You need to consult your physician and consider an ultrasound of the liver to look for an amebic liver abscess. ...Read more

Entamoeba histolytica Ab,SIgA found in saliva test. Titer cant tell if current/past infection. No symptoms. Dr gave herb sup. Is Antibiotic necessary?

No: If you feel well, ignore both this and what you were told about 'nontoxigenic E coli and strep salivarius' in your stool. I'm not aware of any reason to think that FC-cidal, a weird combination of botanicals, will do you any good. I'd also talk with another physician about these diagnostic methods. This is not a standard way of diagnosing amebiasis. ...Read more

Is there any facility to confirm HSV 2 in india like glycoprotin test i got ELISA negtiv 2times and once IgG positiv please tell me laboratry name plz?

HSV 2: You cannot differentiate between hsv types 1 and 2 using antibody testing because of the high frequency of cross-reactivity. The only sure way to do this is to isolate the virus from active lesions and test the virus for serotypes. This is fairly sophisticated, but imagine most large medical schools in india may have a lab that can do this. ...Read more

Tested positive on IgG Elisa for hsv2. Then tested negative on western blot 2 years after last encounter. Which test to believe ?

Western blot: The ELISA screening test is sensitive with a smaller number of false negatives which makes a good screening test. That way fewer true positives are missed. The Western Blot is more specific meaning a smaller number of false positives. A specific test misses few true negatives. It is done for confirmation. You can always repeat the tests in case of specimen mix-up (which I have seen happen before. ...Read more
