Enlarged Right Thyroid Lobe With Large Complex Mass
Ionized Calcium 4.65, PTH 133, Calcium 10.3, Vitamin D 7, Phosphorus 4.9, recurrent Kidney stones. Thyroid lobe, two parathyroids removed in 2004.
Uncertain: These test results don't add up to a straight forward answer. However, I would be concerned about the possibility of recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism. You should take Vit D to eliminate Vit D deficiency as a cause for high PTH levels. Once this is done, if you still have high PTH with high calcium levels, you have recurrent primary HPTH and will need surgery again. ...Read more

I have calification on my right thyroid lobe. My CT scan showed this. There is also a mass on the right side beside it. I have a fna next week cancer?
Hard to know.: The calcification is likely benign but the reported mass next to it, who knows. You are doing the right thing with biopsy. You may end up getting that side of the thyroid out if it's big, causing symptoms, a small cancer or indeterminate on biopsy. You may end up with the whole gland removed if it is a larger cancer or has an aggressive cytology. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My left thyroid lobe is slightly enlarged and I have a vascular hypoechoic nodule measuring 5x4x3mm ?
Just follow it: This sounds like something you just watch and see if anything changes. Most often there maybe a new one over the year. Goiters are like that. Small nodular findings are common. Would not worry about it but don't forget about it. It is at this time something to remember it's there. Talk to your doctor ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Are these dimensions normal thyroid size? Right thyroid lobe: sagittal 59mm x trans. 16mm x ap 13 mm; left thyroid love: 49mm x 13mm x 12mm
Hard to say: There are no consistent standards for the size of a normal thyroid on ultrasound, as there is a lot of variation in how one measures the size. Nevertheless the length of your thyroid is somewhat larger than most people. The volume is more important, but this is hard to estimate from simple dimensions. Overall size is not important, function is (tsh, free t4). ...Read more

Just had my right thyroid lobe removed. How soon after surgery should I have my thyroid hormone levels checked?
3-6 weeks: The half life of T4 (thyroid hormone) is 7 days. The general rule is that it takes 3 half-lives for something to be considered out of your system. After about 3 weeks you should be reaching your new steady state of thyroid hormone in your blood and should be able to tell if your remaining thyroid lobe will be able to compensate or if you will need supplemental thyroid hormone. ...Read more
