If the profile: Is right and you are only 26, you need to see a urologist ffor a cystoscopy. You were treated for prostatitis. If you are not voiding normally, there needs to be an inspections and assessment of what is blocking urinary flow. ...Read more

Possible prostatitis: An enlarged prostate with staining of underwear could be due to prostatitis. Is there discomfort on urination? What did the urine test show? Be sure to get a urinalysis with microscopic exam and a urine culture. Get a PSA test to rule out prostate cancer. If these don't give the answer, get a cystoscopy and possibly catscan. Mo: Nothing that you mentioned shrinks the prostate. Flomax only relaxes the smoothe muscle component of the prostate. Otc products largely are ineffective. Prescription Proscar or Avodart (dutasteride) are the only drugs that actually shrink the prostate. ...Read more

I : I agree---going off the medicine does not good. Just let your doctor know that you are on it and he can take the necessary operative precaustions during the surgery. Don't let this stop you from having the surgery that will improve your vision. ...Read more

Was on flomax (tamsulosin) for bph. Is a mix of saw palmetto .320mg and bets-sitosterol 100mg, pumpkin seed, corn silk, pygeum a good mix for enlarged prostate?

See below: There is conflicting and contradictory research about the benefits of supplements for prostate symptoms. Saw palmetto most studied. Despite much anecdotal evidence suggesting benefit(s) from the supplements you mention, high quality and more reliable research seem to indicate that these supplements have little or no benefit for reducing bph-related symptoms.
