I've read enlarged spleen from fatty liver only occurs after extensive liver damage. Can a "mildly fatty liver" cause a painful enlarged spleen?

Shouldn't: Cirrhosis causes splenomegaly through portal hypertension and splenic congestion; a mildly fatty liver should be well before this stage, and should not be the cause of a painful enlarged spleen. You should see a doctor for further evaluation and testing. ...Read more

Liver mild enlarged but normal splen sizee. Can that be cirrhosis?

Yes: However, if you have cirrhosis, you would have some sense that something is wrong. If you have even mild emphysema, the big lungs push the liver down and it feels big. If your routine blood work is normal, stop worrying. Livers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. ...Read more

Mildly enlarged liver, fatigue, itching, liver disease, what to do?

You're sick. Why?: You need to demand that your physician tell you what is wrong with your liver. To leave you without an answer is unacceptable. Do you have a medication allergy? Hopefully you're not drinking. Do you have cholestatic jaundice? A viral hepatitis? Missing wilson's or hemochromatosis would be bad but it happens. Nobody here can help you until you get a proper workup from a competent physician. ...Read more

Would an ultrasound show liver fibrosis or cirrhosis? does an enlarged liver (16.7cm length) with significant fatty infiltration mean cirrosis started

Fatty infiltration: is a relatively common finding, is due to a number of various causes(sometimes there is no known cause), and is not necessarily a precursor to cirrhosis. Ultrasound can detect changes of cirrhosis, although it is not necessarily specific(other infiltrative processes might lok similar) unless there are advanced secondary signs, and biopsy or additional imaging(MRI) might be needed. ...Read more

Chances lymphoma with no noticeable enlarged lymph nodes? CBC, CMP normal. CT normal- mildly enlarged spleen 13cm

Very Low chance: It is reassuring that there aren't any enlarged lymph nodes, and you have a normalCBC. If there is a lymphoma, it is a very hard to detect one. And it is not causing any problems to the body. I would leave it alone. Get a check up maybe in 6 months- just labs, ldh and a physical exam or ultrasound for the spleen. Spleen sizes also vary quite a lot, but good to keep an eye on it. ...Read more
