What can cause an enlarged clitoris on a child?

What can cause an enlarged clitoris on a child?

Ambiguous Genitalia: Another consideration would be ambiguous genitalia which includes the adrenal hyperplasia scenario mentioned above but also includes various intersex entities. Determination of the child's genotype (xx or xy) would be a good first step in the evaluation. See: http://emedicine.Medscape.Com/article/1015520-overview a bit complicated but lots of info. ...Read more

What is treatment for an enlarged clitoris ?

What is treatment for an enlarged clitoris ?

Clitoroplasty Surger: Reduction clitoroplasty is the best option. God forbid a clitoridectomy (amputation). Not many surgeons have experience with this surgery & are mostly experienced pediatric urologists as we take care of girls with adrenal hyperplasia which can cause a greatly enlarged clitoris.Glans clitoris must be preserved, whilst removing some erectile tissue from the shaft on each side. Please comment if u wish. ...Read more

Enlarged clitoris is there anything i can do?

Enlarged clitoris is there anything i can do?

Clitoroplasty: Depends how much it bothers you. An operation, reduction clitoroplasty, is a possibility if problem is sufficient for you to consider surgery. I have hed considerable success using operation described by dr. Stanley kogan (reference: kogan sj, smey p, levitt sb journal of urology, 1983, vol 130(4) pages: 746-8). This operation preserves nerves ; sensation to clitoris. ...Read more

Please describe a good treatment for an enlarged clitoris ?

Please describe a good treatment for an enlarged clitoris ?

Depends how large: Girls with adrenal hyperplasia can have a very large clitoris & pediatric urologists are experts at performing reduction clotoroplasties whilst preserving most of the glans clitoris with it's nerve supply. So called clitoral recession is a rotten procedure as subjects later have painful "erections" of the confined clitoral shaft. Mild to moderate enlargement-> no problem, partner may find exciting. ...Read more

Is it normal for there to be discomfort around my clitoris? I have polycystic ovary syndrome and have been told that an enlarged clitoris is a symptom. Every once in a while I have a slight amount of irritation (itching/pain) that comes without warning.

The : The itching and pain could be from a fungal (yeast) infection localized to this area. You can try to use an over the counter vaginal yeast infection cream to the affected area twice a day for one to two weeks. If that does not work try vagisil cream. Again if no relief see your doctor because you should not have this kind of "discomfort." lastly an enlarged clitoris could be secondary to increased male hormones (testosterone) however there should be no associated itching and pain. Best of luck. ...Read more

What does it take to have enlarge clitoris?

Clitoris: I am not sure what your question is. The size of the clitoris varies between women, within a small amount. An abnormally enlarged clitoris usually indicates that there is an excess of the hormone testosterone. There are other symptoms that go along with this, such as hair growth and deepening of the voice. These are quite abnormal and require a doctor's evaluation as soon as possible. ...Read more
