Please tell me, could a brain tumor cause an enlarged ventricle?

Yes: Brain tumors can block the normal circulation of cerebral spinal fluid resulting in fluid backing up in the brain and causing dilatation of the ventricular system. ...Read more

Can creutzfeldt-jakob disease cause brain ventricles to enlarge?

Can creutzfeldt-jakob disease cause brain ventricles to enlarge?

Yes.: Creutzfeldt-jakob disease (cjd) is an incurable, degenerative disease of the brain caused by incorrectly folded proteins. As the brain cells are destroyed, the brain tissue can shrink and become atrophied. The ventricles of the brain, which are fluid containing structures, can become bigger due to surrounding brain tissue loss. Thanks to m. Dinapoli, med student. ...Read more

Afp normal, enlarged brain ventricles, is it still possible to have a neural tube defect ntd?

What are diseases that affect the ventricles of the brain?

What are diseases that affect the ventricles of the brain?

Hydrocephalus: Classic is hydrocephalus, which can be obstructive or communicating, and both can cause ventricular enlargement. Pseudo tumor cerebri affects brain diffusely, and has a reverse effect of decreasing ventricular size. ...Read more

Possible to have one one ventricle brain shunt your whole life?

Possible to have one one ventricle brain shunt your whole life?

Yes: I still see many patients who have had their shunt in for 30 or 40 years. Most remarkably, the shunt is frequently still functioning. It is more common to have multiple shunts in your lifetime, but not impossible at all to have one last for decades. Living in morrilton, if you need a good neurosurgeon in little rock, dr. Krisht or dr. Reding are among the very best. ...Read more

What should be the size of left ventricle and brain of 21 week fetus?

Please clarify: This is a little different of a question. Can you clarify whether you are referring to the left ventricle of the heart and the entire size of the brain (as in volume, weight, or some other measure?). Or are you asking about the size of the left ventricle of the brain? And why only the left ventricle and not the right? ...Read more

Brain right ventricle 8mm lesion -cyst or tumor?

Hard to say: If the interpretation on the MRI by the radiologist is that it is a cyst, then it is likely benign. It also depends if there is any area of enhancement that would suggest a tumor. Also if you have serial MRI scans, you can tell if it is getting bigger or changing which is more likely a tumor. The location in the ventricle is important too. If it obstructs the foramen it could be a problem. ...Read more

Could you kindly advise the meaning of "fetal brain lateral ventricles look slightly prominent". Calibers about 9.2mm, 9.5mm?

Fetal brain has exce: It means that the parts of the fetal brain that hold neural fluid have a slightly increased amount of fluid. It is not uncommon, usually goes away but in some cases can be the beginning of something serious. It needs to be followed with an additional scan. ...Read more

Does learning disabilities have anything to do with prominent ventricles brain?

Maybe: There are certainly kids with ld's that have normal ventricles as well as some that have prominent ones. The descriptor by itself could be at the upper limits of normal size and of no importance, or found when a kid has other issues that led to the study. The actual centers dealing with various learning activities are buried within the substance of the brain. ...Read more

Had an MRI found ventricles and sulci prominent in brain, would they see brain damage on their own?

30 week ultrasound showed asymmetrical brain ventricles on fetus. Rest of the scan perfect. Is this a normal variant?

30 week ultrasound showed asymmetrical brain ventricles on fetus. Rest of the scan perfect. Is this a normal variant?

Not really.: No, this is not a normal variant and is usually indicative of some type of compromise and blood flow, to the side of the brain where the ventricle is more prominent. The good news, is that a fetus's brain is very resilient, and as long as all else goes well from here on in, the baby can develop normally. ...Read more

MRI of the brain 12.07.2014 CONCLUSION: external hydrocephalus. Lateral ventricles ASYMMETRICAL BRAIN L> R, Ext. Third ventricle is not expanded, the

Hydrocephalus: External hydrocephalus is a build up of cerebrospinal fluid over the surface of the brain rather than in the ventricles. Normally cerebrospinal fluid circulates from the brain to the spinal cord and back to the brain. When there is poor reabsorption or blockage then hydrocephalus (water on the brain) develops. See a neurosurgeon to help with treatment. ...Read more

I have an arachnoid cyst&get complex migraines very frequently past EEG has shown narrowing of the ventricles in my brain, are they caused by the cyst?

Probably unrelated: Many normal people have arachnoid cysts. Many normal people have narrow ventricles on ct or mri. These are incidental and unrelated findings. Migraine is a physiological reaction to stress. It sounds that the cyst and ventricle issues are unrelated to your migraine. ...Read more

Can anxiety cause prominent brain ventricles? And does it mess up your heart. I've always had high heart rate.

No and no: No, anxiety does not cause prominent brain ventricles. It can increase your heart rate, but it doesn't "mess up" your heart. Some people with anxiety attacks have been found to have mitral valve prolapse (mvp), but this does not come from anxiety. Mvp usually causes no symptoms or hemodynamic problems unless severe -- in which case, a cardiologist would be helping you. ...Read more

20 weeks us shows baby has 2 cysts, a dilated 3rd ventricle and TCD below 5th on the brain, What does this mean? The doctor wouldn't tell me anything.

Some thoughts...: Not sure what it means to say, "doctor wouldn't tell me anything." At 20 weeks, time is of the essence. Everyone involved has to get together now to decide whether or not the baby has a significant malformation. If so, one can consider aborting... which is why time is of the essence. Ask the doctor for the answer. Ask another for a second opinion if the first answer is not clear cut. Good Luck! ...Read more

If I have small ventricles in my brain and swelling behind my right eye, its what causes my eye aches and my headaches my insurance won't cover an eye exam right now can you get an eye exam covered by my insurance? I am a patient of yours and you are the

Insurance coverage: Medical insurances often do not cover routine eye exams, but what you are describing would be covered under most medical plans. The diagnosis code would probably be headaches, or the swelling that you are describing. It sounds like you need to be seen by an ophthalmologist, and I would expect no issues with coverage by a medical insurance plan. Schedule the appointment for "headaches". ...Read more

Tingling in left heel after hot shower/hot weather.Brain/spine mri shows hernation at t7-t8 with flattening of the left ventricle spinal cord, disc protrusions and spondylolisthesis from L4-S1 causing stenosis. Why do i have the heat sensitivity?

Need Neuro exam.: You should see a Neurologist with a copy of the report & (ideally) pictures of the MRI that you underwent. Only a Neurologist can accurately tell you if / why you have heat sensitivity. Usually, heat sensitivity means loss of the ability to tell the difference between hot & cold. The spinal MRI may be misleading. Poor circulation, neuromas, diabetes, & other conditions predispose feet to tingling. ...Read more
