Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Rounded shoulders causing shoulder and neck pain. Is wearing a posture brace to bring the shoulders back a good idea? Will it weaken muscles?

Exercise is better.: It is far better to exercise and strengthen the muscles in your shoulder and back to correct posture. See your doc, and get a referral to a physical therapist if necessary and to be sure you don't have scoliosis or another problem of the spine that is affecting your posture. Stronger muscles will help no matter what the cause, though. ...Read more

Memory foam matress that adjust to our body contour and will give a comfartable sleep without causing body pain. Is this true?

Possibly.: I don't have a memory foam mattress but I do have a thick memory foam mattress topper. It does adjust to my body's contours. It is very helpful for joint pain. However, i would like to advise you that there can be significant differences in the quality of the memory foam - i bought one (very expensive) topper that was so hard that i got rid of it. So, try it out - don't buy sight unseen. ...Read more

How do u fixed a pinched nerve in your neck while pregnant? Worst pain, can't move tylenol (acetaminophen) isn't helping!

How do u fixed a pinched nerve in your neck while pregnant? Worst pain, can't move tylenol (acetaminophen) isn't helping!

HNP in pregnancy: If pain is severe, see your doc early. I have dealt with similar problems before. If at all possible, surgery should be delayed until 3rd trimester. Pain management is useful until that time period and can be done with the prenatal oversight of your ob. Then, if still painful at 3rd tri, cervical discectomy and fusion or replacement can be performed safely. ...Read more

Any suggestions relieve pain from neck & head pry due to tension and old spine injury besides lying down? Have cpl stretches but they don't work.

Stress relief: According you your self diagnosis, stress, which is an overly common issue, I have some recommendations. Stretching, use of hot/cold packs, consider massage, yoga, physical therapy, even chiropractic. Look at reducing stress - important. Consider a traction trial at pt, which you can self administer at home if effective. Look at changing your pillow, and try to sleep on your back. ...Read more

Fell backwards upside down on back of head. Heard noise in neck upon impact. Lot of neck pain, but can move neck and do activities. Rest or go to doc?

Go to doc asap: The neck is one of those areas in which you could cause significant damage to the spinal cord if a fracture goes untreated. I am assuming all of the weight of your body fell in top of your neck which is not a good thing. You need plain films and additional flexion and extension views to rule out a listhesis/slippage. CT and/or MRI might need to be considered if there is suspicion for fracture. ...Read more

Can a too-firm mattress cause morning achiness, neck & back pain? How do I find a mattress that is both comfortable and provides proper support?

Usually no: Spine doctors rec the firmest mattress that you are comfortable on. The softer the mattress, the more out of alignment the spine is during sleep.
