?spastic colon: Your intestines could be spasming after passing hard stool.Ibs aka irritable bowel syndrome can cause cramping in the lower abdomen. It can be severe. Endoscopy done for severe pain in chest/upper stomac. Biopsied 1cm nodule in stomach and have spastic esophagus. What causes this ? 45 yrs old.
Pain: One cause to be considered is reflux esophagitis which can be treated with appropriate ppi therapy.Also to be considered is esophagesl motility disorders such as achalasia and diffuse esophageal spasm which are also readily ttreated.I would suggest you have an esophageal motility study and or a pH monitiring study which can diferentiate these disorders. ...Read more

What would cause inflammation in stomach and intestines in 77 year old with low hemoglobin of (77). No bleeding in GI scope.
AVM Bleeding Anemia: 77 years old with a hemoglobin of 7.7 & not 77, with bleeding in stomach & intestines. Negative endoscopy (egd) or a colonoscopy. I feel: a capsule endoscopy was not done, to look at small intestine, which i recommend. Endoscopy report: Erythema is of little significance without a biopsy of the area to correlate, large food residue could mean you have gastroparesis, or slow stomach emptying that might benefit from medication (or small frequent meals), and I'm glad that the antrum was biopsied. That's a place where you are likely to find H pylori if they are present. ...Read more
Difficult to say: If you have had a long-standing problem w/calf pain or 'charley-horses' i would see your physician for evaluation.In the differential DX would be a chronic gastoc.Strain, a 'leaking' bakers' cyst and even a dvt(blood clot).Best bet is to come in and see your orthopedic surgeon for evvaluation.Good luck! ...Read more

Need a full GI consu: It sounds like you have GI symptoms & a history of prior GI problems. With fibrosis in the esophagus, you can get achalasia, or nonfunctional esophagus. If food & liquids collect in the esophagus, they can cause a bloated sensation as well as the symptoms you describe. Usually neurologic: The most common causes are neurologic problems, although there can be motor problems that cause the symptoms. Neurologic problems include anything from intrauterine strokes to cerebral palsy and many individual neurologic processes. Motor problems can include a variety of muscular dystrophies. Common: These is a very common finding on most endoscopies and iate often not due to anything specific and not a source of concern.
