Endometrium Measure 8mm What Does That Mean
Hello Doctor. Could you please let me know what does Endometrium received multiple gray brown fragments in aggregate measure 1cm excatly what it mean?
Pathology report: This sounds like a pathology report, possibly from a D&C? Or maybe you had a polypectomy? A pathologist generally will describe the color and amount of the tissue that was removed. This is not a diagnosis--this is just a visual description. What's more important is the actual histology (description of the cells). Endometrium can be follicular vs. Luteal phase. Benign vs. Malignant. Hyperplasia? ...Read more
The endometrium is abnormally thickened and measures up to 1.2 cm. 72 year old female no bleeding mean? On a X-ray? What are the odds it cancer?
Endometrium: Either ultrasound or some kinds of "x-rays" (a CT for example) can measure endometrial thickening, which may be due to benign causes. The measure you mentioned should be biopsied by a gyn surgeon to make certain the cells are not pre-cancerous, even if there has been no bleeding at this point. See your gyn provider for this fairly soon. ...Read more

Probable fibroids: This probably means that you have small fibroids. These are the most common tumors of the female reproductive tract and almost never are or become cancerous. You only worry about them when they cause symptoms. Adenomyosis (internal endometriosis) can cause heterogenaity but does not usually show up on ultrasound. ...Read more

Ovary: Heavy bleeding with fibroids is common; you can address with yoru doctor how to handle this. An 8mm endometrium is very non-specific, in other words it's almost certainly normal. A complex cystic mass is more concerning: it could range from irrelevant to worrisome. You need to discuss this with your doctor in person. ...Read more
Three possibilities: Inactive may be used to refer to the endometrium basalis - the part of the endometrium that does not respond to cyclic hormone changes and is therefore normally 'inactive.' (The active part of the endometrium is called the endometrium functionalis). the term inactive could also refer to atrophic glands (due to aging) or to glands in a polyp that don't respond to hormonal cycles. Nothing to worry! ...Read more

Menopause matters: If you are past menopause, this is considered abnormal. Pre-menopause up to 1.5cm is ok. Post menopause, up to 8mm ok if no symptoms (abnormal bleeding). If symptomatic only 4mm is allowed post menopause. Even if abnormally thickened, it is not necessarily cancer. These are just ultrasound standards that have been set to determine who needs further testing (usually with biopsy). ...Read more

After AUB for three weeks had sono. Showed 1.3 cm endometrium three days after cycle ended. What does this mean? Had biopsy done.
Anovulation: The endometrial stripe should measure up to 8 or 10 mm in the normal cycle and would be thin right after a period. Your bleeding was likely due to the overgrown endometrium noted on the sonogram. The sono should have also shown the condition of your ovaries which could explain the thickened endometrium. Talk to your doctor about your bleeding and the sono findings as well as the biopsy results. ...Read more
