Ultrasound showed thickened endometrium (1.4 cm) on day 12 of cycle and multiple fibroids. Is this concerning?

A little: A thickend endometrium in a 29-year woman on day 12 of her cycle isn't really concerning. Its normal. But multiple fibroids are a little concerning. Fibroids aren't cancer but they tend to get bigger with time and cause heavy, painful periods. They can also make it harder to get pregnant. Best wishes! ...Read more

Fibroid symptoms?: If are having symptoms from your fibroids such as pain, profuse or irregular bleeding or your uterus grows to greater than 12 weeks size (12 cms.) then you may have to consider a medical or surgical intervention. Unless and until that occurs, continue to see your GYN MD who will follow you every 6 months or so to determine if there is any uterine growth or symptoms. ...Read more

After AUB for three weeks had sono. Showed 1.3 cm endometrium three days after cycle ended. What does this mean? Had biopsy done.

Anovulation: The endometrial stripe should measure up to 8 or 10 mm in the normal cycle and would be thin right after a period. You're bleeding was likely due to the overgrown endometrium noted on the sonogram. The sono should have also shown the condition of your ovaries which could explain the thickened endometrium. Talk to your doctor about your bleeding and the sono findings as well as the biopsy results. ...Read more

Not related: Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue grows outside the endometrium, causing severe menstrual pain. Endometrial thickness is not a very helpful measurement in premenopausal women, since your endometrium is supposed to become thickened every month to prepare for pregnancy. Endometriosis extent and severity is best assessed by laparoscopy. ...Read more

What does this mean? Endometrium demonstrates a thickness of 0.7 CM and is hyperechoic. Within the cervix, there is crescentic echogenicity, 1.7 cm.

Depends : This depends on age. A 0.7cm thick endometrial thickness is normal for women who still have their period. If in the older woman that doesn't have her menstrual flow then that is too thick. As for the other remark I would have to see it. ...Read more

The endometrium is abnormally thickened and measures up to 1.2 cm. 72 year old female no bleeding mean? On a X-ray? What are the odds it cancer?

Endometrium: Either ultrasound or some kinds of "x-rays" ( a CT for example) can measure endometrial thickening, which may be due to benign causes. The measure you mentioned should be biopsied by a gyn surgeon to make certain the cells are not pre-cancerous, even if there has been no bleeding at this point. See your gyn provider for this fairly soon. ...Read more

Hi, is it bad? Endometrium 10mm with a trace of free fluid in the posterior. An involuting follicular cyst 1.7x1.9x2.1 cm. I'd like to have child

Not bad: The thickness of the lining of the uterus changes based on where you are in your cycle. Free fluid can be a benign process for example if a cyst was to rupture. The cyst you have is not significant and many cysts resolve within 1 to 3 months. Based on the findings you should be fine having a child. Good luck ...Read more

Nabothian cyst: please, google the cyst very benign condition no treatment is necessary

I have a 1.2 CM endometrium thickness during my ultrasound 4 days after my menstration. Is it normal? I am 33 years old, married with 1 daughter (5 yo

Yes: A 1.2 cm endometrium at your age and after a cycle is upper limits of normal but it is normal. More important is the reason for the ultrasound. If it was for abnormal bleeding and the only abnormality is the endometrium than more needs to be done to evaluate the problem. ...Read more

Diagnosed with 1.9 CM thickened endometrium. I thought I started my period but I'm only spotting. Will I need any kind of medical procedure to fix It?

Depends: 1.9cm thickened endometrium at your age is not bad. I do not have any information on your menstrual cycles. If your menstrual cycles are irregular you may need an endometrial biopsy to make sure you do not have endometrial hyperplasia (precancer cells in your endometrium). If you have normal regular cycles it is not that crucial. You may need an ultrasound at the end of your period to decide. ...Read more

Can a thickened endometrium of 19 due to polyps cause a heterogeneous uterus measuring 4.1 x 5.4 x 8.7 cm & should this resolve with polypectomy?

Yes, it should: It sounds like you are talking about ultrasound results, the uterus can be enlarged because of polyps an could give a heterogeneous (mixed) appearance. Removing the polyps, which are almost always benign, should resolve this. ...Read more

The endometrium measured 1.7cm in thickness. Age 39. Period 16-20 March 2015. Also, anteverted uterus measuring 9.7X8.8X7.8 cm seen. Bad?

Enlarged uterus: From what she described her uterus is mildly enlarged. The endometrium measuring 1.7 cm is not unusual at this point in her cycle. Technically you should be somewhere midcycle and the endometrium will be thickening in this phase. As long as they were not able to see a polyp within the endometrial cavity or a fibroid tumor which is benign, then I would proceed conservatively. ...Read more

Uterus measures 8.1 x 3.2 x 5.3 CM myometrium appears heterogeneous, 2 tiny echogenic foci seen anterior to endometrium. What's this mean?

Probable fibroids: This probably means that you have small fibroids. These are the most common tumors of the female reproductive tract and almost never are or become cancerous. You only worry about them when they cause symptoms. Adenomyosis (internal endometriosis) can cause heterogenaity but does not usually show up on ultrasound. ...Read more

1.2 cm endometrium. 5 mo no period. Rt ovary w/multiple follicles (no left ovary). Hot flashes, weight gain and other Meno symp. Results norm?

Obgyn evaluation: Consider seeing an Obgyn for basic blood work. Your doctor may want to check your FSH, TSH and Prolactin levels. They can also review the sonogram paying specific attention to your endometrial thickness. A 1.2 cm endometrial stripe could be a little thicker than one expects to see if the patient were in menopause. Each case will need to be assessed individually ...Read more

Fibroids: You will need to discuss in detail with an Obgyn one on one either through healthtap or in person. Options will vary depending on your fertility plans. The submucosal one is likely the one causing the most problems. It could be removed through hysteroscopic surgery. You may consider a myomectomy to remove all at once but this is a bigger surgery. Acessa is a minimally invasive option for some. ...Read more

Ultrasound shows 3.2 complex ovary cyst with septations and retroverted uterus with prominent 1.7 CM endometrium. Do I have a reason to worry?

Depends: As long as those septations are thin, very thin, no. But the thicker they get the more attention they draw as they may be worrisome. Endometrial thickness depends on hormones. So if you still have a period, then maybe not ...Read more

My mom has been suffering from irregular periods. Now she is 46. Her endometrium is thickened up to 1.3 cm. Uterus is anteverted and bulky. What to do?

What did her gyn say: I am sure her gyn has a plan, in the us the standard of care would be for her to have a hysteroscopy and biopsy of the endometrium to r/o hyperplasia — endometrial pre- cancer or less commonly endometrial cancer or could have other benign reasons, please have her discuss with her gyn. ...Read more
