Likely, no: CA 125 is not recommended as a screening tool for ovarian cancer when used in risk-based stratification. Meaning, assuming that your mom or sister didn't get diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Normal for women with endometriosis to have elevated CA-125. Yes and no: If by pills you mean birth control pills, then sometimes they can not help with irregular bleeding, they don't typically cause irregular bleeding separately. Endometriosis can definitely cause irregular bleeding, but birth control pills are used to treat it. Ovarian cyst, unless a cyst that makes estrogen typically doesn't cause bleeding. ...Read more

Splenic flexure: The colon takes a sharp 90 degree turn under the left rib cage and this splenic flexure is the site of trapped gas at times. Applying heat to the abdomen and drinking hot water helps break down the gas enabling you to pass it. Taking simethicone after meals helps prevent gas build up. Bleeding: If you had surgery for endometriosis, that could cause your bleeding postoperatively. If you got any medications to reduce future endometriosis growth, this may cause continued bleeding as well. If you did get lupron, (leuprolide) the bleeding should diminish after 2-3 weeks and you may not have a period for 2 - 3 months. You should follow up with your doctor to discuss these symptoms. ...Read more
