Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more

Non-specific: Fleeting chest pains are not specific for lung cancer. It could be caused by a host of other benign reasons like muscle pain, rib pain from strain or inflammation. Pneumonia or pleurisy can also cause it. If you are worried about lung cancer and you are a smoker, check with your doctor about a screening CAT scan of the chest. If it is negative, time to stop smoking! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can't tell: Sounds like nothing because you have provided no info. Anyways, I suggest you visit your physician if you have a persistent physical problem. We cannot make an accurate diagnosis online. You need a physical exam and maybe some tests. Best to you and for what it's worth, I know how bad allergies are in TX so I hope it's nothing more serious than that. ...Read more
I have OCD and lately I'm obsessed with a whistling sound when I exhale. I hear when I provoke it by breathing very slow. All tests clear. Lung cancer?
OCD Symptoms?: If you have been examined by a physician, and had the appropriate tests (chest x-ray, blood tests) and nothing was found to suggest lung cancer, then this may be an OCD issue. Do you have family history of lung cancer, or have you lost a friend to this disease? Are you a smoker? If all these are no, then you need to stop monitoring your breathing so closely. Talk to MD or psychologist re OCD. ...Read more
25 year old 9 year smoker quit 2 mnths ago, wake up tasting blood, spit blood, 3 e.r. visits, no xrays, lungs sound clear, lung cancer? gums bleed easy
I am an 11 year lung cancer survivor. Why would my CEA level be high, (3.9), & MONO% be high, (13.0), yet cat scans, ultra sounds all show no cancer.
Uncertain: The CEA level is only slightly elevated, and may be due to other factors, especially smoking. After 11 years of being cancer-free, cancer is unlikely, but can't be ruled out, because a recurrence can be too small to detect by ct scans and ultrasound. Your doctor will want to follow you closely. The mono% (monocytes?) doesn't have much to do with carcinoma one way or another. ...Read more

25 years old, quit smoking for 1 mnth, sob, intermittent chest pain that moves, doctors say lungs sound clear, no ,cxr lung cancer??
Not cancer: Congratulations on your smoking cessation. Lung cancer doesn't present this way. The pain is almost certainly chest wall pain, but if you are really short of breath as well (and it's not just from discomfort), you need a competent fitness evaluation and perhaps spirometry in addition to your CXR and exam. Adult-onset asthma might be the explanation; it's manageable. Best wishes. ...Read more
The gastrointestinal tract starts at the mouth, travel down the tunnel (esophagus), which connects to the stomach, which then empties into the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum---the three parts of the small intestine (@25 feet). This empties into the colon or large intestine (about 5 feet), which then becomes the sigmoid colon, rectum and out the anus. So, every morsel eaten ...Read more
