What is the prognosis of lung cancer? My father has a 3.5 inch mass on passage way of lung by aorta of heart but cancer hasn't spread yet.

Extremely serious: Even in your brief description, you mention 2 worrisome features: size and proximity to the aorta. It's beyond the scope of this forum to speculate on his prognosis, but i think you're aware that your father is in trouble. Talk with his oncologist. There are several types of lung cancer and some are more sensitive to chemotherapy or radiation. Best of luck. ...Read more

Survival rate prostate cancer spreaded around and bone scan shows a little on left n right pelvic. Is it serious? Life expetancy? Serius should Worry?

Very Serious: Metastatic prostate cancer is a serious problem and according to a recent article by A Patrikidou, the median survival is 5.2 years. The good news is that in the last few years there have been several advances and new medications that should extend this. Treatment starts with hormones but sometimes radiation is needed if certain bones are involved. Typically your urologist will coordinate care. ...Read more

I had very low numbers in a grade 3, stage 3 er+ breast cancer (no lymph involvement), what are the chances of metastasis elsewhere?

Not sure what..: ...You mean by "low numbers". If you truly had a stage 3, node negative cancer, it would be a t4n0m0 (stage iiib). Being er+ is good but a grade 3, stage 3 still has a fair risk of relapse. You need an aggressive approach with chemo, surgery, radiation, and endocrine therapy. My advise: do your best to complete therapy and do not focus too much in numbers or odds. Best 2u. ...Read more

Approx 1 yr.: An assumption that primary has been resected. As such what is in lung will stay in lung. With esophageal compression, tube feedings may be used for nourishment. Then if FOLFIERI not used should be employed followed by drugs like Erbitux, Avastin, (bevacizumab) Zaltrap and when these fail may be candidate for monoclonal Neo102 followed by Neo 201. ...Read more

Does lung cancer cause intermittent fleeting rib pain, or would this be advanced disease?? 25, doc says lungs sound clear, 9 -yr pack hstry

Pneumonia or pleurisy can also cause it. If you are worried about lung cancer and you are a smoker, check with your doctor about a screening CAT scan of the chest.
