End Of Summer
Big let down/depression after incredibly fun weekend w/friends at end of summer events. Clean wknd (no liquor/drugs). Feel VERY down now. Normal??
Not at all bizarre: Congratulations on having great, clean fun w/ friends. Cherish it. It's not uncommon to react as you did, but that does not exactly mean 'normal'. It's possible that some supportive highly skilled talk therapy could help you find ways to optimize your life at this passage phase. Early middle age is often a time to review and renew - especially when there are medical issues or concerns. It can help ...Read more
Weight loss: Many people respond to a low glycemic diet and specific exercise that includes high intensity interval training. There are some commercial programs that can be helpful. Two I like are through a company called Advocare and another by Mannatech. If you wanted to check those out go to www.thedocstu.com. Good luck! ...Read more
Antihistamines: You can. Many people take antihistaines as a preventative treatment instead of after the attack. Certain allergies become less as we get closer to the fourth of july since pollination of most trees and grasses ceases and the weather is dryer. Check to see if your allergies have calmed down around that time. ...Read more
I want to conceive my 2nd baby the end of this summer. When should I take out my mirana? I have NO health problems either.
I had my wisdom teeth extracted at the end of june last summer and the bottom left extraction site has been swollen and painful lately. Any ideas why?
Adjacent tooth?: Most of the time when patients complain of pain or swelling in the area of a previously extracted wisdom tooth, when it has been some time since the extraction, it turns out to be some gingival (gum) swelling related to an inflammation or infection from the tooth directly in front of the wisdom tooth. Less likely, is the opposing tooth super-erupting and irritating the gums. ...Read more
Have lupus. The sun makes me flare. Is it a sign of too much accumulation of sun if I end up tan in the summer? I wear sunblock & hat, avoid peak hrs.
Not so bad: The tan will harden you to the sun so you will be less likely to flare from sun. ...Read more
The summer when I was 13 I smoked wee almost everyday, I stopped at the end when I got grounded. Do you think there is any permanent damage from this?
Nothing noticeable: I don't know how much you were smoking, but one summer's worth of smoking cannabis daily isn't great for your brain development, but isn't likely to cause significant, noticeable damage either. Best to lay off until you're older and your brain has finished developing, though. ...Read more
I smoked during the summer but stopped for about 2 months and smoked once 3 weeks ago on Monday and, I'm taking a urine test on Thursday, Am I ok?
Yes: In the unlikely event that something turns up positive, claim it's from passive smoking. Now PLEASE don't have any more "slips" returning to this. Nicotine is extremely treacherous and you can end up getting addicted again. It can cost you your health and your life, which is a lot worse than failing a nicotine test. You're a grown man, you're strong, you can avoid temptation. ...Read more
I pull eyelashes. Have for about four years. Stopped in the summer. My eyelashes growing in bad some go sideways etc. Have i perminently damaged them?
Doubtful : Eyelashes grow out of "preset" areas on the lid. You can't move these. Chronic inflammation can cause the eyelashes to grow out of the glands (little sweat ducts called meibomian glands) around your eye. This is called distichiasis. Your manipulation of your eyelids may be making this worse and causing the eyelash to grow normal. Go to your eye doctor. ...Read more
I started smoking over the summer for two months, but I stopped. Are my lungs going to be seriously damaged?
No: You have made the right decision and you should never go back on it. Not smoking is one of the greatest decision one can make. A short time of smoking, as you have, will more than likely never put you at any risk from such activities. Great job! keep up the good work! congratulations! ...Read more
Shoulder pain started 3 mo. ago from drawing obsessively. Stopped drawing/writing the whole summer. Same pain started again, hardly any writing. Why?
Chronic pain: This could be tendinitis, tendinopathy, bursitis, or a rotator cuff injury. It may be that it just needs more time to heal. Pain can come and go with these types of injuries. If there is inflammation then it can return with minimal activity. Consider seeing your doctor for an exam. ...Read more

How come after everything I eat, I get nauseous? It happened a lot this summer, then stopped. About a week ago it's back-- nauseous/sick stomach.
Gastritis can do this and it is very common. The symptoms can be controlled with nonprescription antacids, acid reducers such as ranitidine and omeprazole
GERD can do it but the same meds I mentioned can help.
Gallbladder problems, like gallstones, and constipation can also be the cause. A high fiber diet or extra fiber is useful. if not better after these, see a doctor for deeper testing. ...Read more

I used to work out a lot all of my life male 22 this summer i stopped and after that many symtomps pain legs hip back and insomnia could this be norma?
Possibly: Working out does make us feel better in many ways, from improved heart and lung function to mentally, through the release of endorphins, chemicals that actually make you feel better. Im using Bioderma moussant gel as a cleanser. Earlier I was using DEPIKLEIN and Epiduo gel for my acne. It seems like both have stopped working. I'm not sure if it's the summer in India causing it or if it's something else. I even tried using Zinderm BPO
Get a real acne Rx: Bioderma is glitzy zinc and copper sulfate and it isn't going to touch your acne. Depiklen is intended for brown spots, not acne, though Epiduo gel is a real acne Rx. I'd urge you to use topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated and phone your personal physician for prescription-strength acne medication -- you deserve better than what you've been getting. ...Read more

Do annual check-up: Kids from age 2 to 18 should have annual check-ups. The doctor records annual weight and height increases. To see if growth has stopped, a teen can return for his annual check-up. If still gaining a little bit each year, one MAY grow a bit more. ...Read more

First, an evaluation: Hi, as suggested, start with a psychiatric evaluation. This is a challenging problem, and treatment typically involves a combination of medications and psychotherapy. Lighter color: Melanin is the basis for the normal color of the skin, the eye and some internal structures. Melanin production can be disturbed in portions of the skin producing a patchy lightening.
