I'm 6 wk 2days pregnant IVF. My gestational sac is empty and my doctor wants to do a laparoscopy to see if it an ectopic pregnancy. Is it to soon?

Yes!: An empty gestational sac means that you have an intrauterine pregnancy, but it may be too early to tell if it is viable. The problem with IVF is the possibility of twins one which could be tubal. However, it is vital that he check with HCG levels and ultrasounds before subjecting you to a surgery that could definitely end the pregnancy. If you are not having any pain or bleeding. ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Its normal if at 4 weeks and 2 days of pregnancy my gestational sac mesure 0, 46 cm?

MSD: Mean sac diameter (MSD) is a sonographic measurement of the gestational sac which is usually first seen at around 3 weeks after conception (5 weeks after the last menstrual period), when it measures 2-3 mm.

MSD = (length + height + width)/3

Normal MSD (in mm) + 30 = days of pregnancy ...Read more

Its normal that at 4 weeks and 2 day pregnancy we just see a gestational sac without baby inside? At what week of pregnancy we can start to see a baby

Normal: At 4 weeks and 2 days I'm surprised you can see a gestational sac. At 6 weeks of pregnancy you can see the baby, usually a small line called the "fetal pole". It's okay at this point if you don't see it. ...Read more

Why is the fetal node not visible in gestational sac that is 5 - weeks old (pregnancy 6 weeks)?

Why is the fetal node not visible in gestational sac that is 5 - weeks old (pregnancy 6 weeks)?

Couple reasons: Normally at 6 weeks you should see a sac, a yolk sac, the fetal pole and an early heartbeat. When you don't see what you expect, there are 3 possibilities: the pregnancy is not quite as far as you think, the pregnancy is abnormal, or it is just hard to see on ultrasound. So I would just repeat in 1 week and know for sure! ...Read more

Is it possible for you to have a gestational sac with a negative pregnancy test?

What does it mean of early intrauterine pregnancy 5 weks by gestational sac, yolk sac is. 3m no baby yet, normal? Is my baby show soon?

Fetal pole: 5 weeks is very early to see a fetal pole. Typically at 6 weeks you can see a fetal pole and at 6.5 - 7 weeks you can see a heartbeat by ultrasound. ...Read more

Does a teardrop shaped gestational sac at 6weeks of pregnancy suggest something bad? A yolk sac and a heartbeat could be seen. Thank you!

None at all: No, at 6 weeks the shape of the GS is highly non-specific. If the rest of the scan is normal (sounds like it is) things seem okay for now. Good wishes. ...Read more

How is it possible to see the gestational sac with beta level 348.5? Is it something wrong with the lab results or with the pregnancy 5-6 weeks?

How is it possible to see the gestational sac with beta level 348.5? Is it something wrong with the lab results or with the pregnancy 5-6 weeks?

It isn't: Unless the hCG (beta) was higher and is now dropping. A sac cannot be reliably seen at levels below 1500-2000, a level around 300 is way below normal for 5-6 weeks. Either the hCG or the finding of the sac does not fit. Good wishes. ...Read more

Can I still have a normal pregnancy with an abnormal gestational sac? 5weeks 2days levels 4000 not doubling2500 to 4000in3 days possible see fetalpole

Possibily: When you are this early in pregnancy, things may seem abnormal, but end up being perfectly fine, given time. HCG levels "normally" increase by 66% every 48 hours. However, nothing is written in stone, and I have seen less then normal increases, and not so normal ultrasounds produce normal pregnancies. You need to have your ultrasound repeated in a week from your last one. Good luck! ...Read more

I'm 5 weeks 4 days ultrasound showed gestational sac only hCG of 8, 419. Is this pregnancy normal?

Possibly: The fetus is not always visible at this gestational age, but I can't exclude a blighted ovum with what you're reporting. In my practice, I would repeat your hcg a couple days later and repeat the US in 7-10 days. ...Read more

Pregnancy dated 6 weeks 5 days but gestational sac measures small at 5weeks 5 days. I am so worried. Heart beat was 130.?

Follow up visit: At 5 weeks it is normal to only see a gestational sac as it is too early to see a fetus. Likely your doctor scheduled you for a follow up sono in 1-2 weeks. If not contact them and ask when you should be seen. ...Read more

Bled whole pregnancy. At 7w (lmp) measured 6 weeks with small gestational sac. At 8w (lmp) measured 6w6d with sac at 4.5 weeks. HR 154. Miscarriage?

Not necessarily: Hi,
Without seeing the ultrasounds it is a little confusing. At the first U/S, what was measuring 6wk? > the sac or the fetus, if they saw one. The second U/S would actually be reassuring; they measured a fetus at 6w6d (the difference from LMP would just mean your dates are off), but a fetal heart rate of 154 is reassuring. The continued bleeding is worrisome, but keep the faith! Good luck ...Read more

Gestational sac only grew 3 mm in 10 days. Yolk sac visible; but no embryo seen (7 wks LMP).What are the chances that pregnancy is viable?

Pregnancy: If ytour dates are accurate, you should be able to see a fetal pole and heart beat by 7 weeks. The sac should grow about 1 mm per day. You should discuss these findings with you doctor, but the chance of viability is verly low. ...Read more

Can't say: A viable pregnancy is determined by the presence of fetal heart motion, so it is certainly not viable at this time. The poorly rising levels in the last few numbers do not bode well for the chances. ...Read more

I have had an ultrasound dating my pregnancy 4w5d with just gestational sac. Lmp says 7. Hcg levels are over 4000. What is likely in this pregnancy?

Wait a while: Most likely answer is that you are less far along than you thought, in which case in 2 weeks you should see an almost 7 wk fetus with heart activity. If not, then there has been early embryonic demise and the pregnancy has failed. Time will tell. Good luck. ...Read more

I got a positive pregnancy test, & today went for an ultrasound. They saw no gestational sac. Is it too early.?

Depends: If you are less than 4 weeks along, it may be too early to see anything in the uterus. But of you are 5 or 6 weeks along there should be a pregnancy very clearly seen in the uterus. Serial quantitative hCG's can give additional insight as to the normalcy of the pregnancy. Good luck. ...Read more

Is a pregnancy viable with a gestational sac measuring 12.37mm and no yolk sac seen 5wks, 2days or is this a sure sign of miscarriage?

Do not let: Any doctor who has not met you and examined you make a verdict on viable or not: the sac size is very inconsistent with dates (5+ weeks,) so either the dating is off (which happens a lot) or the pregnancy is likely abnormal. Only a doctor who knows you can help you make this call. ...Read more

Bleeding whole pregnancy. At 7w I measured 6w and the gestational sac was small At 8 weeks 6w6d, the sac is 2 weeks behind. Heartbeat 154 Miscarriage?

Not necessarily: The sac is not 2 weeks behind, what you give is 1 week 1 day behind. This is 1 week's growth over 1 week. No one can say online whether your pregnancy is normal or not, but this looks likely normal to me if this was a spontaneous conception. The 154 heart rate is perfect. Maybe.: It sounds within the normal range but their are charts to compare age and normal bHCG levels that I don't currently have reference to.
