How do school food programs boost the health of kids?

How do school food programs boost the health of kids?

By feeding them: Sadly, there are many children in our country whose parents cannot feed them, and for some of those kids, the only meals they really get in a week are the meals and snacks they get at school. Our schools provide a much needed safety net for these kids. Without the food provided there, the kids would be in much worse shape than they are. ...Read more

Diet food programs that cause fastest loss?

Diet food programs that cause fastest loss?

No such thing: I'm afraid no diet program promotes rapid or good weight loss. The best weapons to use in losing weight are healthy, balanced meals and regular exercise. There are several commercials on tv that promote success stories with weight loss, but to be honest, no program is successful unless you change your eating habits for the rest of your life, vs. Just a short term diet. ...Read more

Any 30-day diet food programs you can think of?

Any 30-day diet food programs you can think of?

Eat less + exercise: There are a huge number of diet programs. Most emphasize high quality foods like vegetables. Any diet that actually reduces your caloric intake to less than you burn in a day will work. It's not the diets that are in question, it's our ability to follow them long enough to get results. Weight watchers has a nice online program that my patients like, but do any diet that you feel good on and can do. ...Read more

How to get skinny with eating dorm food programs?

How to get skinny with eating dorm food programs?

Stick to Fresh Food: Try to stick to fresh food, vs. Heavily processed foods. I know that's tough in a dormitory cafeteria/eating facility (believe me, I've been there), but stick to veggies, "plain and simple" meat dishes and whole grain foods. Avoid the flavored milks, soda, white breads/pastas and dessert (except on special occasions). The biggest culprit in gaining weight in college is snacking in your room! ...Read more

Any 30-day diet food programs for rapid weight loss?

No safe ones: Crash diets can produce rapid weight loss but often are lacking in essential nutrients. Also because they are so restrictive, they lower your metabolic rate, so when you stop the diet (and you will because they are not sustainable) you regain the weight. Slow steady weight loss using a diet you can live on is better. ...Read more

What food can act as an emergency contraceptive? There isn't any ECPills here in my country

There's no such food: It would be fascinating if certain food items could prevent pregnancy, and would likely be hazardous to the human race, too. A woman can get an IUD, which prevents pregnancy after sex, and continues to work for many years into the future. A woman can also get birth control pills, and ask her doctor how to take them to mimic an Emergency Contraception effect. See the site http://ec. Princeton. Edu ...Read more

Had emergency egd for stuck food, had inflammation in esophagus, stomach & duodenum. Biopsy negative. Are all infections checked or only certain ones?

Hard to know...: When trauma is involved, most endoscopists will minimize biopsies during the "rescue" endoscopy, opting instead to bring the patient back for a second look when the inflammation has calmed down. It is at the time of this second endoscopic look that dilation and extensive biopsies can be more safely pursued. Your biopsy may have included a check of cmv, herpes, fungus, h.Pylori or none of these. ...Read more
