Unbearably itchy sandfly bites I have derm aid cream and itch ease and antihistamine tablets but its unbearable its not stopping what can I do?
Itchy rash: Are you sure it is sand fly bites? Have you seen a doctor since a rash is best treated with visual evaluation. NO!!!!: This is a steroid, and while a steroid cream will hide your symptoms and take the itch away, it does nothing to kill or treat the fungus! try using an otc anti-fungal cream like lotrimin, Lamisil or tinactin (tolnaftate) 2x/day for at least 30 days. Your symptoms should disappear in 3-5 days, but since fungal sores live 30 days, you must use it for 30 days to prevent recurrence. Also... Don't scratch! ...Read more

No: Elomet cream has a steroid in it. Using if for a long period of time in the same place may cause thinning of the skin, hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin), and premature wrinkling just to name a few. There are many remedies that can be tried including a paste of baking soda and water spread over the bite area, tea tree oil placed on the bites and aloe vera. I was bitten by sandflys two nights ago, but it seems there are more than yesterday, even though I've left the area. Why is that?
It could be anything:
Either you were bitten in more than one place, but you did not get a reaction until later.
or by scratching the old bite, you were able to spread it around.
either way avoid scratching, because it could get infected, use hydrocortison and alternate with topical antibiotic on the bite site.
take benadryl (diphenhydramine) at night to avoid scratching while you are asleep.

You MUST see your doctor as soon as possible. The longer you wait the more you are going to be worried.
