I took ella (ulipristal acetate) pill with 24 hours but I am overweight 1.70 snd 99kg will it work? The pharmacist suggested it

Should be effective: Ella (ulipristal acetate) contains ulipristal, a drug which blocks the effects of hormones needed for pregnancy. It is more effective than Plan B/progesterone only emergency contraception. When taken within 24 hours, as you report, it is about 95% effective at preventing pregnancy. I could not find information suggesting it is measureably less effective in the obese patient. Consider reliable contraception methods/IUD ...Read more

EC pill ella (ulipristal acetate): took it 8 days ago, 36 hours after unprotected unconsented sex. Bleed day after taking, normal flow, lasted 4 days. Did ella (ulipristal acetate) work?

Maybe. Maybe not.: EC pills work most of the time, but not all of the time. Always do a pregnancy test 3 weeks after taking emergency contraceptive pills. Between the time of taking the pills and doing the pregnancy test, focus on other things... as whatever will be, will be. ...Read more

Sex 1 day b4 ovulation, condon slipped off, took Ella (ulipristal acetate) 36 hours after sex. Now milky discharge 1 day after ella (ulipristal acetate) pill. Will it work?

"Plan B": Taking "Plan B" types of pills 36 hours after unprotected sex may work, but it is not certain. This kind of medication "works" by making the lining of the womb not "hospitable" for implantation of the fertilized egg. It may have been taken too late to create this effect. So get a serum HCG test if your period is at all delayed to know for certain. ...Read more

Wait for the test: The home urine pregnancy test is to be done 3 weeks after sex, whenever a woman has used an emergency contraceptive pill. One can just wait for the test result, which usually is negative, and then not worry about pregnancy again (this time). She must be sure to have good contraceptive plans, so that she won't need Ella (ulipristal acetate) again. ...Read more

Had abortion done on27july2014, had unprotected sex on4/7july, but he did not cam inside. I took the ella (ulipristal acetate) pill (120 hours) on 8july, could I be pregant?

Dates not right: You say you had the abortion on July 27 2014 - that date has not even occurred yet. If you mean JUNE 27, and then the rest of the scenario is the same, the answer is yes, you could be pregnant - because you had unprotected sex. You think he didn't ejaculate inside you, but there is no way to know that as lots of sperm are released even just during sex. You really need to find better contraception ...Read more

Agree w' Dr Davis: Ask yourself why you are risking pregnancy and the need for another abortion so soon after having had one. You may want to speak with a therapist to address your feelings about abortion, guilt and self punishment in addition to talking with ObGyn about birth control and safe sex. ...Read more

If I have taken Ella one after being late on a few pills. Will results be somewhat reliable after 2 days after taking the ec?

Late on bcp: Ella may or may not have been effective in preventing pregnancy. There is only one time when being "late" taking oral contraceptives presents a possibility of pregnancy, and that is at the end of the active pills: if more than seven days elapses before starting another cycle, ovulation can occur. Have a serum test (HCG) done to make certain you are not pregnant. ...Read more

I took ella (ulipristal acetate) ec last week, however, last night I think my partner may not have pulled out in time. Is it ok to take another pill in the same cycle?

Try Plan B: Ella (ulipristal acetate) ec is effective from preventing pregnancy from a single episode and up to 5 days later and may not be effective if you have 2 separate incidents within the 5 days due to long life of sperm.
