Congrats: Great job on reducing the fat on your liver. I assume you lost weight to have this happen…. Your albumin is low normal, maybe you are too extreme with your dieting, but a better gauge of your nutritional status is a pre albumin blood test. You may also have a lower albumin level due to a loss of protein in your kidneys, have your kidneys checked out too. What was your albumin level 11 months ago? ...Read more

Diagnosed mild fatty liver elevated enzymes on off for 7 months. Us shows no fat why would enzymes be high no hepatitis. Could it be chronic liver dis?
Bad Fats?: Our liver is a big filter and when it gets overwhelmed by bad fat (from too much junk food, transfats, carbs, etc) it gets backed up something like a drain. You might consider asking your doc or a nutritionist for some guidance about healthy food choices and see how things go. The very best to you. ...Read more
I have fatty liver my enzymes are usually slightly elevated the past 2 mths they r normal but my bilirubin is still elevated was 1.2 has been for a yr?
Gilbert's : Hi. Your slightly elevated bilirubin is probably unrelated to fatty liver. Your bilirubin is probably mildly high because of an insignificant defect in bilirubin conjugation. Have your doc check total and conjugated bilirubin. With Gilbert's, total bili is high and conjugated bili is low. ...Read more

Have : Have you both been tested for hepatitis? If not do so immediately. Also mononucleosis can cause elevated liver function tests (enzymes). Otherwise it could be coincidental, especially if you both have high triglycerides or fatty livers. It is difficult to say. Take care. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My alp was .25 is this bad? My bili is total 1.3 and direct 0.24 I have fatty liver bili kind of always is elevated mostly it's the total though
No: The numbers you list don't seem high enough to be worrisome. Sometimes minor elevation of bili can be caused by fasting or a hereditary condition called Gilbert's syndrome. I can't tell if the alk phos is high without the normals for your lab. Fatty liver can be caused by overweight, alcohol use, or other causes. See your doctor to discuss the results, causes, and treatments. Good luck! ...Read more
Would elevated bili for over a year be caused by Gilberts? Never was abnormal before just all the sudden. Could it b from fatty liver or more serious?
Maybe, it depends.: There are many causes of elevated bilirubin, including Gilbert's syndrome and fatty liver. An initial work up, including liver function tests, complete blood count, hepatitis screening, and liver ultrasound, will provide a good starting point. Elevated bilirubin with all other tests being normal and no inciting medications is often due to Gilbert's. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Different liver tests have been elevated for 5 months now by atleast 50pts. Dr says just keep observing for now. I have fatty liver. Need 2nd opinion?
2x elevated LFT's: You are describing liver tests that are two times elevated over "normal" for a prolonged period of time. Persistent elevation over 6 months or more may warrant liver biopsy, & certainly warrants a comprehensive battery of blood tests to rule out infection, metabolic problems, autoimmune disease, familial liver diseases, etc. Ask your family doctor for a referral to a gi/liver specialist. ...Read more
Probably: It's a given that fatty liver is not normal. I trust that additional concerns -- notably wilson's -- have been ruled out, and that you're taking steps, including aerobic fitness, to keep the fatty liver at bay. I'm glad you're keeping this under close watch and hope you'll stay proactive. ...Read more
Can mild diffuse fatty liver infiltration cause elevated bilirubin? Gallbladder was removed with no stones.
Elevated AST=48 ALT=83 with diffused fatty liver and slightly small liver size. What does it mean and how can it be treated?
Reverse risk factors: Fatty liver is incredibly common, predominantly due to: high alcohol intake, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity. The more of these risks you have, the greater the chance of fatty liver. Addressing these risks is an important step to correcting fatty liver. Distinguish hepatosteatosis (fatty liver) from steatohepatitis (fatty liver with abnormal liver tests that risks cirrhosis & liver cancer). ...Read more

I am 37 and have always been fit. For 7 years my blood liver enzymes have been elevated but not acutely xray has shown fatty liver and now high chol.?
Elevated liver enzym: We usually see fatty infiltration of the liver on an ultrasound not on an x-ray. If your enzymes have been elevated then be sure and get checked for other causes such as hepatitis be or hepatitis c. The liver produces cholesterol so not likely to be related. I would see your dr. And see if there is another explanation for elevated liver enzymes. Weight loss will help with fatty infiltration. ...Read more
