Kidney function: Your creatinine (c) is in normal range. C is dependent on age, sex, weight and race. Your main problem is the protein in your urine. Go to a nephrologist (n) and have a 24 hour urine collection for a c clearance and protein which will tell you how well your kidneys are working and how much protein () is in your urine. P in the urine is a bad sign that needs a diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

Need units of: measure. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have been useful to know the units of measure of BUN and creatinine. Urine creatitnine by itself is not a useful test. Your AST is higher than normal and it would do you good to abstain from alcohol. ...Read more

My Glucose, Serum is 5 mg/dL
BUN/ Creatinine Ratio is 22
CO2 is 9 mmol/L
AST 54 IU/L
ALT 54 IU/L
What does all this indicate?
Mistake?: Normal BG - 60-100 range. BG of 5 mg/dl produces profound neurologic disturbance. Please recheck that value. BUN could indicate mild dehydration. CO2 -really bicarbonate- is low indicating excess acid in blood stream. AST and ALT both mildly / nonspecifically elevated. Line by line interpretation of labs -not very helpful. Need to know context in which they were drawn in order to understand. ...Read more

Iron def anemia: You do have iron deficiency anemia and you should get some iron replacement. However the most important thing is to know why you have iron deficiency. How old are you? UTI + liver disease: You didn't mention painful frequent urination w/urgency, which are hallmarks of urinary tract infections (UTIs), whether simple cystitis (bladder) or pyelonephritis (kidney). Also need to monitor liver function given elevated AST & ALT, even test for infectious hepatitis ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Derm ordered labs for back pain while on accutane. checking Tryglicerids, Cholesterol, ALT, AST, BUN, & Creatine. What are they, what are we looking 4?
Accutane can cause: elevation in certain enzymes and proteins. These are just some of the lab values that are checked on a monthly basis to make sure that accutane is not causing an elevation in these values, it is not because of the back pain (back pain and joint pain can be caused by accutane itself). ...Read more
