Are electromagnetic fields (EMFs) dangerous to human health? Am concerned due to local power co's new smart meters being installed on homes in my area

Are electromagnetic fields (EMFs) dangerous to human health? Am concerned due to local power co's new smart meters being installed on homes in my area

I say you're safe: The "independent medical thinkers" have been alleging horrible health problems caused by these fields for four decades without a single decent study that isn't loaded with recall bias. There's no animal model, no real theory as to why they're dangerous, and the field generated by your beating heart affects you more. By now, the NIH research piranhas would have found any danger that's real. ...Read more

Can electromagnetic fields (not sure of correct term) generated by power company smart meters on homes cause cancer or other illness?

Can electromagnetic fields (not sure of correct term) generated by power company smart meters on homes cause cancer or other illness?

No: A one time it was felt that homes built in viscinity of High voltage tension lines brought in by overhead power cables might induce tumors in a way that it was thought that cell phones could induce brain tumors. These were speculative and have not been confirmed. ...Read more

With so many electric cars and hybrid cars on the road, are the drivers affected by the motors' electromagnetic fields the way cell phones affect us?

With so many electric cars and hybrid cars on the road, are the drivers affected by the motors' electromagnetic fields the way cell phones affect us?

Doubtful: Good question, but because the power is being used directly, not to transmit and receive like a cell phone, it is not likely to affect people anymore than the generator does in a typical gas-powered car. ...Read more

How accurate are quantum electromagnetic resonance health analyser?

How accurate are quantum electromagnetic resonance health analyser?

Mystery black box: The description of cells giving off weird magnetic fields, accuracy proved by "a hundred million cases", and not a single scientific publication or any description that makes sense tells me this is simply a health fraud. If you're interested in energy / integrative medicine, get with a real, evidence holist such as some of my HealthTap teammates. It's a fascinating area. ...Read more

How can I know if I am allergic to electromagnetic waves! Please help!?

Relax: Allergic reactions are triggered by proteins such as those found in foods, venom (bees and yellow jackets), pollens, molds, dust mite, latex, medications, etc. Electromagnetic waves do not contain proteins so they will not trigger an allergic reaction. ...Read more

Do electromagnetic waves affect your health?

Do electromagnetic waves affect your health?

There has: Been controversy for many years about the health effects of EMR or electomagnetic radiation.....the results are really NOT "all in" but it appears that intense EMR such as that experienced by electric high power line workers may have some long term effects...perhaps blood disorders of various kinds. In terms of the usual and ordinary exposure we all have .probably NOT any health .my opinion only ...Read more

1-is it true that electromagnetic radiation, from computers n mobile phones are bad for you,?
2-is it true that computers emit ozone which is toxic

Ozone: I use ozone daily in my office. High voltage can make ozone. Lungs and eyes are less tolerant of ozone than other tissues. Do u smell it? However, it may be improving your health. Ozone is used in europe subways and schools to reduce bacteria and virus in air. Ozone is very reactive and does not last long in air. I believe that if the amount was high enough to cause you harm you'd know it. ...Read more

Is there a device I could buy to check the total electromagnetic energy around my home? Like a thermometer, but for radiation?

Is there a device I could buy to check the total electromagnetic energy around my home? Like a thermometer, but for radiation?

EMF: Geiger counters measure ionizing radiation like alpha, beta, gamma, and x-rays. They do not measure elf or other electromagnetic fields from microwaves or electronic devices; for those, you need a gauss meter, which range in price from a few hundred $$ to several thousand, depending on size, sensitivity, fields to be monitored. http://www.biof.com/onlinestore/safetech.asp?redirect=yes may be start. ...Read more

How does radioactivity and electromagnetic radiation induce cancer?

How does radioactivity and electromagnetic radiation induce cancer?

Does; doesn't: Radioactivity produces ionizing radiation that damages the genes. I would urge you to ignore "pop" / "scare" stories about electromagnetic fields causing cancer. They're based on anecdotes and retrospective questioning which generates junk findings. There's no obvious mechanism and the electricity of your beating heart is a stronger exposure than nearby power lines. ...Read more

Does MRI Radiation can be danger as Cell phone radiation since both work on electromagnetic?

Does MRI Radiation can be danger as Cell phone radiation since both work on electromagnetic?

Frequency is a key: Issue because energy per photon correlates with the frequency of EMR. Study: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_radiation. Additionally, issue is not just EMR energy transmitted but absorbed (versus just passing through without apparent effect) combined with biologic responses, thus no one 100% understands. MRI (actually NMRI) uses intense magnetic fields & RF EMR, not ionizing like CT. ...Read more

I fell asleep with my iPhone two inches away from my head all night. I am worried about electromagnetic cell phone radiation. Should I be worried?

No significant risk: Despite all the media attention about cell phones and electromagnetism, there are no proved adverse health effects. To the extent there might be a theoretical risk, having a phone near your head for only 8-10 hours almost certainly is free of risk. Probably it's a good idea to avoid doing this all the time, but your risk from this event probably is zero for all practical purposes. ...Read more

What is in the runoff of farm fields that are not organic?

Most of it: The run off from farm fields is largely a suspension of the composition of the soils present on the farm. The concern on this would be whether fertilizers and anti-pest chemicals are mixed in with this. Organic farmers do not use these agents so their run-off is 'organic'. ...Read more
