Many possibilities: The cause depends on many factors, but it could be a physical nerve injury or compression (occipital neuralgia) or other neurological condition. Keep a log of the timing, duration, location, and severity of these episodes and take the log with you to your primary care physician, who may/may not refer you to a neurologist. Http://www. Nlm. Lately I've been experiencing random "electric shocks" feeling to the head that last 1-2 seconds and will feel slightly dizzy after that. Why?

Muscular or Nerve: One common cause can be muscle spasm; common areas include the temporal muscles (Has a dentist ever told you that you grind your teeth when you sleep?), occipital muscles (which are connected to muscles of the neck). Other considerations here are stress levels as well as proper structural support for your body when sitting/typing/sleeping. Other include occipital neuralgia and temporal arteritis ...Read more

Likely benign: Some form of trigeminal irritation of a terminal nasal nerve branch which is hypersensitive for any number of reasons & activates the trigeminovascular system of the brainstem in the mildest of ways to produce what could be interpreted as a very subtle "knock on the door" of what under other scenarios could become a migraine headache. I have a pain behind my head like a electrical shock. What could it be?

Pain behind head?: I assume you mean pain in THE BACK of your head, not behind it. It could be nothing, but it also could be occipital neuralgia.
