RSD: RSD is now called chronic regional pain syndrome. It is a clinical diagnosis but sometimes we use a bone scan that can help detect changes and then affected extremity. Umm, hard to say.: There is nothing specific about the skin you describe that gives us a clue as to what exactly is going on medically. Does the rash go away--or is it persistent? Is the skin itchy?... Is it smooth or rough? Does it get worse or change colors after a hot shower?... Depends...: This depends on what the pain is from. Skin pain can be from so many things, burns, infections, allergies, neuropathies, etc. If you are unsure what it is from and continue to have pain, I would recommend seeing a physician as soon as you can, especially if pain is severe.
