This can be caused : by a loose fragment from an old injury. It gets caught in the joint, & your moving it about causes it to get out of the way. See an orthopedic surgeon & have it evaluated. The shoulder girdle area is a common site for these types of regional muscle fiber strains. See md: Your history of full rom but pain w/ lifting objects suggests the most common dx. Made w/ elbow pain: tendinitis.( specifically lateral epicondylitis or ' tennis elbow'). Try taking a NSAID for a week , avoid power grip activities w/ this extremity for a couple of weeks and see if it doesn't improve. If not, get a referral to an ors . Best of luck! ...Read more

Tennis elbow: Usually lifting up a suitcase or twisting a screwdriver and other such activities cause pain. You can go to a drug store or Walmart and get a tennis elbow strap to put pressure on the outside of the elbow where the pain is and take motrin 800 mg 3x/'day for the pain.
