Burning sensation on and around my elbow, why?

Burning sensation on and around my elbow, why?

Usually tendinitis: 'burning' avbout the elbow w/out trauma is usually tendinitis. Occassionally the 'funny' bone (ulnar nerve)on the inside of the elbow can cause this as well esp if u get numbness or tingling in your pinkie and/or ring fingers. Try a NSAID for a week or two if no improvement see your orthopedic surgeon. Best of luck!

BICYCLE SCRATCHES: HAVE YOU SEEN YOUR DOCTOR YET? THINK LIKE THIS: YOU HAVE A FIRE. HOW DO YOU PUT OUT A FIRE? WATER! WARM WATER COMPRESSES EVERY 2 or 3 HOURS FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES EACH TIME. (NOT HOT OR COLD WATER!) CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR TO FIND OUT IF ITS INFECTED. YOU MAY NEED AN ANTIBIOTIC..

See below: Any rashes associated with the pain area? If so, consider "shingles" but the pain often comes before the rash. Watch for this. Any numbness in the area or down the arm, consider a neck issue/brachial nerve plexus issue. See your doctor for confirmation or not.

Not sure: I am not sure what this could be. Are your joints inflamed? Do you have diabetes? Is is constant? Are you healthy otherwise? Burning only? Any pain? Do you take any medications? I wish I could give more detailed answer, but that is not an easy question.

Elbow inflammation: Consider elbow inflammation from activities that cause you to frequently rotate your forearm either clockwise or counter clockwise or to lift relatively heavy weights with your wrist held stable. Tenderness on the inside of the elbow is called medial epicondylitis nd on the outside lateral epicondylitis. Both are treated with ibuprofen and rest.

Paresthesias: There are several possibilities depending on the precise distribution of the symptoms. Google separately images for ulnar nerve, median nerve and dermatomes. I woke and my right hand hurts and has a burning sensation for going on 10 minutes I can even feel it in my elbow? Help please!

Get seen by the PCP: And get a Wrist Brace to keep your wrist straight, if the burnng and pain affects the thumb to middle fingers; If the ring and pinky are affected, then avoiding bending the elbow too much can help. Keeping it at about 20 to 60 degrees would allow the swelling around the pinched nerve to subside, allowing symptoms to improve. Taking some Aleve (naproxen) or Motrim might also help and Vit B6 would be helpful.

Could be nerve root: Your description sounds like a cervical nerve root problem. Injury to the peripheral nerves exiting from your neck can cause pain, paresthesias (pins and needles), numbness, and/or weakness. You would benefit from a consultation with your doctor to delve into this issue further. Good luck to a quick recovery.
