Not as supportive: It is okay to wear athletic shoes without orthotics, but you will not get the same level of support for your arch. Artificially, yes.: If you have a slumped over posture, then correcting your posture, either by training yourself to have better posture or by wearing some assistive device, would make you seem taller because you wouldn't be slumped over anymore. But you wouldn't literally gain height. Personally, I'd rather you retrain your posture than wear something like that all the time. ...Read more
Not long term: There are a variety of braces that can be worn to "improve" posture problems; from fairly flexible to quite rigid. The problem is that they result in atrophy and stiffness which can ultimately worsen the problem. Strengthening of the core and postural exercises is much better. Gel heel liner: There are so many shapes and sizes of feet that shoe manufacturers cannot possibly make shoes for every need. What i would recommend you do is find a shoe that fits your toes and then purchase a gel heel liner that goes into the back of the shoe to help snug the shoe around the heel.
