If I no longer have jra but horrible knee pain/swelling/flares and nsaids/ice/pt don't help what's my options? Should I still see a rhuematologist or.?

See rheumatologist: Yes. At 24 to have those symptoms, even if you had been cleared for jra, you still have the chance to convert to adult RA that will not be as transient. The pain and flare ups you are having can be causing long term degenerative damage and the sooner you get this under control, the lower the long term consequences. I hope that helps and best of luck! ...Read more

I woke up with a swollen uvula. It is very large. I can feel it when I move my tongue. What is the best treatment for reducing swelling? Nsaid? Antihi

Ice, time: You get a swollen uvula like you described from severe snoring and probable obstructive sleep apnea. The severity of your snoring causes trauma to the uvula which causes it to swell. Painand knots/ swelling in abs/oblique in luq. What kind of Dr do I see for this? My primary care gave me nsaids no relief in 4 months. Ct&xray clear.

General Surgery: That is a good question. There are several doctors you could potentially see for this problem. The good news is that your CT scan and X-rays were normal. I would get a referral to a General Surgeon to take a look at the area if it is over your abdomen. There may be other imaging modalities your surgeon can use, such as ultrasound, to see if there is a muscle tear, or they may choose to do an MRI. ...Read more

Likely ok: Reaction to NSAIDs other than asthma, nasal congestion, sinusitis is considered specific to that drug. Sulfa has nothing to do with meloxicam. Thus it is likely safe for you to take Meloxicam but try to stay at 7.5 mg per day. ...Read more

Cushingoid face swelling this week. No allergy/infection. Have CSF shunt leak- collect there? Or Afrin (oxymetazoline) strong enough steroid? NSAIDs ineffective. Way to treat?

Cushingoid: Chronic steroid use will cause a Cushing type face. A leaking CSF shunt will lead to a focal swelling under the skin and not around the whole face. Steroid therapy is required when other anti inflammatory medications are not sufficient. Talk to your medical doctor about the best medications for you and ask what are the alternatives. ...Read more
