See dermatologist: Doubt it's either lupus or dermatomyositis since a persistent hand rash (on back of hands only, not on knuckles) is not a presenting symptom. My four year old has always had sensitive skin. At times, she breaks out with a flat pink/red dry looking rash clustered mostly on her face, behind her knees, legs and in the folds of her arms on the front side of her elbows. Could it be pediatric eczema?

Some advice: Location of problem either right brain, or high cervical spinal cord, and could be seen with an ms plaque, lupus cerebritis or even stroke activity secondary to diabetes. Steroids could reverse, but might cause major elevation in blood sugar (acthar might be easier). Have your doc check your meds, and eliminate any med that specifies anti-tnf-alpha activity.
