Elevated EBV ab VCA IgG <8 and EBV nucleaer antigen ab IgG test 4.2. & anti-dna(ss)igg ab qn ( 119)& c react protien(5.6) what are implications?

Nothing.: Ebv antibodies indicate you had a previous infection, but not active. The c-reactive protein needs a units indicator - that is either normal or somewhat elevated. The anti ss dna is extremely nonspecific and very rarely indicated; I have no idea why that was ordered, discuss with your doctor. ...Read more

Autoimmune Disorder : The ANA speckled pattern, combined with the anti dna (was it double stranded?), the negative ena, and the elevated lfts, point to a connective tissue disorder (it may be mixed) such as lupus, sjigrens syndrome, scleroderma or poly myosotis. Other more specific tests can rule these in or out. Thyroid disease and chronic viral infections can also be at play. Your doctor will continue the search. ...Read more

I'm hebs ag negative with a high anti hbs antibody from vaccination. This week's test was reported as hebs ag detected with anti hbs antibody of 513 miu/ml. Lft normal....Scared....Lab error?

Yes: That sounds like lab error. Your hbsab would provide immunity; i'm assuming yoru hbcab (core) is negative; i wouldn't worry, talk to your doctor about a retest if you are concerned, but even if you were infected, there is no reason for treatment at this time. ...Read more

I have CBC test where monocytes are high, liver enzymes ALT high; also EBV IgG positive, CMV IgG positive CMV IgM normal.. Hiv negative at 32 weeks.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would help to have the actual values of the results. The one item of interest is high ALT. If you drink alcohol, stop entirely for three months and redo the test. Other results are okay. ...Read more

You had mono...: Your mono-like symptoms likely prompted the testing- i hope you are starting to feel a little better. Testing for different antibodies (igm and igg) against ebv, requires careful interpretation. In early phases of infection, the igm level peaks first followed by a decline; levels of igg peak afterwards, and may remain elevated for quite a while. ...Read more

Get tested: There is a blood test to diagnose infection with hepatitis C. Nothing in the results you provided, indicates active Hep C infection, however, Hep C can remain asymptomatic for years. If you have any concern get tested for Hep c. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. More info on serum immunofixation..no monoclonal proteins detected.a faint IgG labda cannot be ruled out.suggest repeat 6 mths.igg 841 IgA 251 IgM 44.

Correct advice: It is prudent to retest in about six months to see which way the low level monoclonal spike is going. It may disappear, stay unchanged or increase in amount. The next step will depend on the direction of the quantity of the protein. Your immunoglobulin levels are normal. There is no need to worry. ...Read more
