How soon should you see a dr for borderline increased hepatic echo texture?

Reverse risk factors: Fatty liver is incredibly common, predominantly due to: high alcohol intake, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity. The more of these risks you have, the greater the chance of fatty liver. Addressing these risks is an important step to correcting fatty liver. Distinguish hepatosteatosis (fatty liver) from steatohepatitis (fatty liver with abnormal liver tests that risks cirrhosis & liver cancer). ...Read more

Echo (Definition)

An echocardiogram (also called an echo) is a type of ultrasound test that uses high-pitched sound waves that are sent through a device called a transducer. The device picks up echoes of the sound waves as they bounce off the different parts of your heart. These echoes are turned into moving pictures of your heart that can be seen ...Read more

Recently had an abdominal ultrasound and my liver shows the echo texture is coarsened and suggests fatty changes. Is this serious?

It can be.: In some patients, fatty liver can cause inflammation and create an illness called nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). It is possible for this to result in the liver damage. At this point, I would recommend that you try to work on losing weight if you are heavy, and see your doctor for further work up to be sure your liver is okay. Good luck. ...Read more

I recently had an ultrasound of my right kidney where a kidney stone was found along with a 3mm bright echo was found. Should I be concerned?

Probably not...: Increased use of us or ct to evaluate body pain had led to finding small asymptomatic stone or mass in kidneys, lungs, liver, etc. Which is incidental and poses substantial dilemma on how to handle these subclinical findings. For kidney stone of 3 mm, I would leave it alone if you have no stone-related symptoms., but followed yearly with a x-ray film (kub).

I have had pericarditis in 2008. My most recent echo showed trace mitral an tricuspid regurgitation and a bright pericardium. What can this mean?

Things to watch: The trace tricuspid and mitral valve regurgitation may be nothing, but should be followed, or monitored by an echocardiogram, every year or every other year.
The bright pericardium is likely the result of the pericarditis (which is inflammation of the sack the heart sits in)
the worry is that this brightness becomes scar tissue, that could cause some squeezing of the heart, also followed by echo. ...Read more

Reassurance for you-: Myocarditis involves inflammation if the heart muscles, which occurs more frequently in young men like you. Most of the time, it's caused by a viral infection. The MRI is showing a little inflammation remaining- be patient! If you are feeling better, that's good. Mri findings take time to catch up with clinical improvement. You should continue to feel better over the next few weeks. ...Read more

How does an echo function?

How does an echo function?

Bounces sound waves: An echocardiogram is simply an ultrasound. Like any other ultrasound, including those used by fishing boats, the fundamental principle is to send high-frequency sound waves into the target (heart) and measure the time it takes to return to the transducer (echo). The resulting picture is a measure of the distance traveled and the physical properties of the material it passed through. ...Read more
