You have: Eustachian tube dysfunction, which explains the ears popping. It probably has to do withe plane ride. Your eustachiaan tubes are clogged and pop open when you burp or yawn. Chewing gum may help open them. An oral decongestant may help, like sudafed. ...Read more

More likely pressure: You likely had an unnoticed closure of your eustachian tube that reopened to allow some air into your middle ear space. But this should not produce continuing pain.
