For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. See your Family Doc: It sounds to me like you have several issues going on at same time. Post-nasal drip could be from allergies which could lead to ear discomfort b/c Eustachian tube dysfunction. Chronic sinusitis, now flaring thanks to a cold. Temp 99.7, post-nasal drip sore throat. Must use antibios or not? History of C-Diff makes me nervous.
Sinusitis: Try flonase 2 sprays in each nostril for a week, hot shower to the face, hot rag to the face, soothing beverages, ibuprofen 800 q 8 hours for symptomatic relief. Hydration: you need to stay hydrated, most likely you are having some kind of allergy, Hydrate yourself well, and you can take OTC medicine for congestion, and cough, like Zyrtec ,or Claritin, or Allegra, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at night, mucinex for cough, ibuprofen for fever, or body ache. Not LPR: LPR, also known as laryngopharyngeal reflux is due to stomach acid that travels from the stomach up through the esophagus and then causes irritation to laryngopharyngeal region. Sounds like you have post nasal drip. Possibly not an allergy. May need CT Scan of sinuses to show possible chronic sinusitis. Since you had flu: and strep tests, I'm assuming you had your whole body examined. Did they mention if you had fluid behind your eardrum? It sounds like you could have a middle or inner ear infection. I would follow up with your doctor and be examined again. Nonspecific : Soft tissue densities in the normally air filled mastoid, middle ear and sinus cavities indicates there is some type of chronic, long term inflammation in those areas.
