Can you please describe the early symptoms of arthritis in the spine?

Can you please describe the early symptoms of arthritis in the spine?

Pain!: Depends on whether it is inflammatory or degenerative. Spine inflammation usually has a pain increase with being in one position for some time. Degenerative arthritis usually hurts more with acitvitity. Both types usually originate low, but inflammatory arthritis of the spine will usually cause sacroiliac joint inflammation and pain. This pain is usually felt in the "buttocks" or the top pelvis.

Could early arthritis cause pain in the middle of my left knee when i kneel it.I have no other symptoms such as swelling, hot sensation or stiffness?

Chondromalacia: Early arthritis could cause pain with kneeling, especially if the cartilage on the undersurface of the kneecap (patella) is damaged. This is called chondromalacia. Some people call this early arthritis but it does not necessarily progress to arthritis (which is the total erosion of the cartilage). X-rays and MRI can help make a diagnosis so the appropriate treatment can be prescribed. Good luck!
