Don't assume ...: That there is no joint inflammation because sed rate is normal. It's unclear from your note how long you have been experiencing severe joint pain; in the early stages of joint inflammation the sed rate may be normal and even the finding of joint swelling can be subtle. Carpal tunnel?: Your hand numbness might be carpal tunnel syndrome. Use of a wrist/hand brace at night when you sleep may help.
