I had abscess on my inner ear. Given anti biotics, they did not work. Dr. culted the abscess and it came back +2 enterococcus faecalis?
Repeat culture: 30 year old gentleman with inner ear abscess unsuccessfully treated with antibiotics. Which antibiotics did not work? Amoxicillin or Fluoroquinolone? I believe you should have this culture repeated. E. faecalis is not a common pathogen in that body area. You should see an ENT specialist and have any abscess drained and the proper antibiotic course administered, possible 2-3 doses IV hospital 1st. ...Read more

Abscess on top part of ear, 4 days. Painful, throbbing. Poked it with tiny lancet& squeezed but only blood came out, no puss. Should I poke deeper?
See a doctor: For these kinds of problems, it's gone beyond the 'home remedy' stage. The issue with the ear is that you don't want a longer term deformity to develop by poking around and digging at this infection. A doctor should better be able to manage this for you. I would call your primary or go to an Urgent Care center where someone could deal with it properly. ...Read more
I have an abscess in my ear canal (diagnosed) got drop antibiotics. How do they remove it and does it hurt? Scared.
? Abscess?: Otitis externa causes significant swelling of the ear canal but rarely a trues abscess. Abscesses are painful so your question "does if hurt? " suggests that it is not an abscess. Further antibiotic drops are usually used for infection of the canal from cellulitis of the canal. Being scared lowers your resistance (immune system) so rest assured that it does not sound like an abscess. ...Read more

I have an abscess relating to a wisdom tooth and have developed very sore ear cartilage on the same side. Are the two related? Thanks!
Abscess: It is possible to have 'referred' pain to the ear, and the area behind the ear because the same cranial nerve for sensation goes to both areas, just in different branches. I have not however seen pain refered to just the ear cartilage. Mostly just general ear ache. Most likely this is another issue. I would recomend getting the abscess treated by a dentist, because these can realy ruin a day. ...Read more
