Ear Stroke Symtoms
Pt had sever stroke 3 yrs ago, now stroke symptoms reoccurred. Inr ok and no findings on ctangio. Viral inf following stroke mimic stroke symptoms?
Stroke mimics: A host of things can "unmask" prior brain injury, including infections, metabolic derangements, seizures and medications. Ct angio looks at blood vessels, but need either a head ct or MRI to look at the brain tissue itself to determine if there has been any new compromise. ...Read more
ENT diagnosis - neuralgia. Can neuralgia- sore throat, feel sick, ear ache, ear pressure be the symptoms of withdrawal from Dothiepin?
I have chronic severe ear infection w/csf leak since brain decompression for chiari malformation. Could inner ear & ear bones be malformed also?
Unlikely: Unless your inner ear was involved in the surgery or you were born with inner ear or ear bone malformations, the inner ear and ear bones were likely unaffected from surgery. A suboccipital decompression typically does not affect the inner ear or ear bones. I would consult your otologist for a more precise answer. ...Read more
Not enough info: There are several conditions that could cause these symptoms. Are they constant or intermittent, are there other ear symptoms, what is the dizziness like, is the ear sensitive to sound, cold, touch? In the absence of more information this can't be answered. As there are several serious conditions such as tumors on the balance nerves then i would see an ent, preferably a neurootologist. ...Read more
Symptoms: chest pain, suffocating feeling, mucus cough, hearing loss, ear ache, headache, vision problems, freezing cold. What could be wrong?
Sudden onset of stuffy ear 3 days ago. Also causing ringing with louder sounds. Infection? Tinnitus? Hx - cleft palate & perf ear drum. What can I do?
Brief episodes of vertigo, ear fullness, ear ache, and pulsatile tinnitus in left ear for two months (started after a cold with bronchitis). Also, conductive hearing loss in left ear. Outer ear and tympanic membrane look fine. Neur. exam. fine.
Meniere's disease?: Are you having headaches as well? With vertigo, hearing loss and tinnitus (ringing in the ears perhaps??) you've described 3/4 symptoms of Ménière's disease, the only last symptom being headaches on the side of the hearing loss and ringing in the ear. You'd need an MRI to know that the inner ears and brain in general look OK. Treatment for this is challenging. ...Read more
Postdromal migraine or brain tumor? Mild pain on left side of head, ringing ears, ear fullness and dizziness for 4 days after week long migraine.
How about neither?: There seems to be an inexplicable epidemic of brain tumor anxiety among otherwise young healthy people. Like that furshlugginer ice bucket challenge that had the unintended consequence of an epidemic of ALS anxiety among otherwise healthy young people. - This may have been a viral infection that spread to your middle & inner ear. If it persists more than a few more days, see your doctor. ...Read more

Episodes of vertigo, tinnitus, fullness in ear. OAE showed left ear damage. Now having ABR test. What can ABR determine aside from acoustic neuroma?
This test: measures the "connection" between the outside (cochlear) hearing organ and the brain itself! It is used for a number of hearing/balance issues besides acoustic neuroma. You should discuss this question with the Health Care Professional who ordered the test....(good advice for ALL MEDICAL TESTING!) Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more
CT, ENT exam, tymp test, &audiogrm normal: Cause of ear fullness & muffled hearing? Hard to hear myself singing mid-range/using facial resonators.
Eustachian tube dyfx: you are likely suffering from Eustachian tube dysfunction. The Eustachian tube lies between the middle ear space and the back of the nose. You can check this tube by holding your nose and blowing hard. Your ears should pop. This may help the fullness feeling in the ears. If it helps, do this at least 30 or 40 times a day. If your ears do not pop, you may need a nasal steroid. Good luck! ...Read more
