Pain on 1 side of head 6 weeks diminishes during day CT found mastoid with fluid amoxicillin. 10 days . Ache still there?
See an ENT doctor: May be difficult to cure mastoiditis if that is present (fluid alone is non-diagnositic of this). It is also difficult to know whether the organism (if any) is sensitive to amoxicillin, or you are getting an appropriate dose regimen. See an ENT doctor and have this thoroughly evaluated. Good luck. ...Read more
After snorkeling I still have what feels like H2O on the ears after 6 days & a round of antibiotics, but still hear "swallowing", but nopain. earplugs?
Cab your ear start hurting after being on an antibiotic for your throat. My ear didn't hurt until after a few rounds of the antibiotic ?
More information: There is one particular antibiotic that can affect hearing called gentamycin but that's not the same as pain so I'd need more information about what's going on to see whether or not there's any relationship between the antibiotic and your symptom. You may also be developing an otitis from a superinfection if the antibiotic is causing resistance issues. Private consult: www.healthtap.com/drsaghafi ...Read more
My mid ear canal infection was discovered after a flight home impaired part my hearing. Its now the 8th of 10 days im on biaxin (clarithromycin) w no improvement. Why?
Seros otitis media: More than likely you have sterile fluid in the middle ear. This can last for some time. You are not equalizing the pressure on each side of the middle ear. The eustachian tube is not functioning well and equalizing the pressure. There are some exercises to help with this and some medications to help. Give it a bit of time and if not responding, see an ent. You may end up with a tube placed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Been taking augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) since 6/11, for an ear & sinus infection. My ear feels full of fluid. How long before my ear drains?
Been fighting possible ear infection. Took amoxicillin for 8 days and now taking augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) to finish clearing up. About 4 days ago, got a pimple/bump just on the entrance of ear opening. What caused it?
Not related: If the diagnosis of a middle ear infection is correct and that is the reason you have been placed on an antibiotics, the pimple/bump at the entrance of your ear canal is unrelated. Possible causes are insect bite, q-tip injury. There is no relationship between a middle ear infection and the pimple. ...Read more
Surfer. Had swimmers ear in 1 ear, pain on n off. Didn't go in water for one month and took amox for 10 days. First day back in water had pain in ear. ?
Swimmers Ear: Amoxicillin is not the appropriate treatment for otitis externa (swimmers ear). Staying out of the water is part of the treatment but you may need ear drops. I like ciprodex which is part steroid and part antibiotic. Your swimmer's ear may never have resolved in the first place. I would advise you see a doctor and have them look in your ear to see if you still have it. ...Read more
Ear infection still hurts off and on and cant hear. Been on ear drops and oral antibiotics for 6 days now.
Give it time: It is best to complete the course of antibiotics. Middle ear infections often cause accumulation of liquids in the middle ear which may cause some discomfort and hearing loss. Typically complete resolution of symptoms is expected by the third week of therapy. If symptoms worsen while on therapy or you have fever a repeat examination will be needed. Take care. ...Read more
I had a abcess on the appendix been on antibiotics for 10 days after comeing out of hospital will it come back?
Always a possibility: though likely low odds. Most people have heard of appendicitis, assume simple issue, yet most surgeons believe they must operate on >4 people for every 3 who appear to have appendix problems (at open surgery), including in our age of CT Scans, etc. (Many not told appendicitis not actual issue after the fact, etc.) Thus difficult to answer. If immune system not resolve abscess, then might recur. ...Read more
How could xray show clearing of pneumonia 6 days after antibiotics started and then show atelectasis and pleural effusion 6 weeks after?
Depends on clinical: If clearing means completely than atelectasis and pleural effusion would likely mean new process or previous pneumonia was not treated completely. Some types of pneumonia can take 6-8 weeks to entirely clear. A lot depends on symptoms.Radiographic improvement usually lags behind clinical symptoms.I would check with your doctor for further management. ...Read more

I am having the second round of antibiotics for strep after 6 days of the second round i started this sharp ear pain and blocked ear! can the ear infe?
Sore ear: You probably have some inflammation in the nose that can be helped with a nasal steroid and ear popping. Grab you nose and blow hard. This should open those tubes to equilibrate the pressure. You will get immediate relief. If the ears are blocked the steroid will help with the pressure. Irrigate the nose with saline (1 tsp salt to one quart of water) before you place the steroid. Good luck! ...Read more
Had small amount of fluid in right lung in early March. A week into 10 days levaquin (levofloxacin) it cleared. Had pressure and discomfort. Went away. Now back?
Water behind eardrum given Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 500-125 on 12/30/15. Better but spinning head when laying down/getting up today. Part of healing??? Prior infe
See The Spin Doctor: Sounds like there's an imbalance in there. More fluid on one side than the other. Leads to an illusion of motion. It's called 'vertigo.' So the infection is most likely gone but all the fluid from the inflammation hasn't been resorbed yet and/or is doing so unevenly. You should get better in a short while. Try Dramamine (dimenhydrinate) (no Rx needed). If that does not help, see your doctor. Try not to drive yet. ...Read more
Currently on day 6 of 10 of cephalexin for a UTI. Still have a low grade fever (99.2-100 degrees) and some back pain. Also, 18 days post c-section.
Tinnitus in left ear decided to use ear drops. 9 days later ear full of wax after pulling out the goo , still ringing ear still blocked :-( syringe?
Syringe may help: They sell cleaning kits for ears in the pharmacies which have large syringes. I always advise to use warm soapy water for these types of cleanings. At the same time, I advise caution when doing anything with the ear canal & if you're not sure of what you are doing or if things are going the right way then you should stop and see your doctor. Much better that than to cause any sort of complication. ...Read more
