Will a mouth guard help with ear inflammation? Constant right side ear ache behind ear lobe. Dentist said not grinding teeth, maybe clenching jaw.

Right ear hearing muffled if i swallow or yawn. Tipping head temp relieves, upside down head causes click above ear and most effective. Click hurts.

See an ENT doctor: Ear pain and fullness can be due to tmd (temporo-mandibular disorder). Retraction of drum may indicate eustachian tube obstruction, but that requires a specialist's observation. Outer ear infection: With otitis externa, you don't always feel 'sick'. You will, however, have wicked ear pain. The wax plug can trap moisture and set up the infection/inflammation. If there is fluid behind the ear drum, that's a middle ear infection and may also be without symptoms.
