Ear Pain Water
I feel ear pain after swimming, water goes to my ear i think during swimming.what should i do now?
Pressure changes: Depending on how deep you are swimming, small changes in middle ear pressure can occur. It could also be that water gets stuck in your ear canal. For the pressure issue, you can try chewing gum or holding your nose, closing your mouth and gently blowing. For the water in the hear, you can hold a blowdryer far away from your head on cool/warm setting and let it dry the inside. It could also be wax. ...Read more
Coconut oil safe to use in ear daily for ear pressure? Pain/water behind eardrum currently on antibiotics but ear pressure remains.
Yes, safe but...: Yes, coconut oil is safe to use but unlikely to help this much. It does have some antimicrobial properties but ear pressure is most likely related to allergies & inflammation around the eustachian tube. Antibiotics may not help much either. Avoiding dairy & wheat may help as well as treating allergies. Consider homeopathy & seeing a cranial osteopath. ...Read more

What would the symptoms of infection aquired via neti pot be? I have sinus and ear pain and have used neti pot with untreated well water.
Sinus irrigation: Please do not do that again. Only use sterile distilled water and use an irrigating bottle that can be washed and put into the microwave for 60-90 seconds to sterilize it. You could develop deadly amoebic meningitis otherwise with severe headache, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, fever, coma, convulsions, and death. ...Read more

After jumping off a 12 ft bluff into water I started having sudden severe right ear pain. No drainage. Lasting 3 hours now. Should I see a doctor?

Surfer. Had swimmers ear in 1 ear, pain on n off. Didn't go in water for one month and took amox for 10 days. First day back in water had pain in ear. ?
Swimmers Ear: Amoxicillin is not the appropriate treatment for otitis externa (swimmers ear). Staying out of the water is part of the treatment but you may need ear drops. I like ciprodex which is part steroid and part antibiotic. Your swimmer's ear may never have resolved in the first place. I would advise you see a doctor and have them look in your ear to see if you still have it. ...Read more

I have mild ear pain in the left eardrum after being hit by a water jet a swimming pool. Bruised? Ruptured? Cautions?
Possible: Possible to have a simple "bruise" or a rupture Membrane. An exam is needed to tell you for sure. If ruptured, caution to avoid getting bacteria in the ear as you would be more at risk of getting a more serious infection. In fact if ruptured, it is recommended to use sterile Ear drops (usually for the eye) in the ear canal. Best wishes. ...Read more

During ear irrigation by nurses yesterday & today, no wax was removed but felt pain & water going into my throat. Now have ear pain. Is that normal?
Not normal: Normally, there is no connection from the outer ear canal to the throat. If water from ear irrigation goes into the throat, an ENT specialist can evaluate to see what happened. The ENT doctor can manually clear out wax and debris by using a microscope, and then check for ear problems, and finally send a report to the non-ENT doctor and nurse who did the ear irrigation. ...Read more

Hi today when I woke up I had bad sore throat with bad ear pain and a bad headache what am I don't have water in my ears.
Doctor can check: A very sore throat can be evaluated by a primary care doctor or an ear-nose-throat doctor to see what the cause might be. Sometimes it is a strep throat bacterial infection (antibiotics would be needed to treat strep). Other possibilities include a tonsillar abscess, a viral infection, a throat ulcer, etc... The doctor has to look at the throat to figure out what is going on. ...Read more

After getting off of a plane from Hawaii, my mother had ear pains. She says she can hear water dripping and has hearing problems. Should she see a doc?
Middle ear fluid: This is very common after prolonged air travel. The changes in cabin pressure requires the middle ear to ventilate via the auditory tube (ear popping). If the ear does not aerate, fluid will accumulate. Use a decongestant such as sudafed and gently try and "pop" your ear. If it doesn't get better, see an ENT physician. ...Read more
Ear Pain Child:
Ear pain is extremely common in childhood and although it is distressing, is usually caused by a minor infection that will resolve on its own.
It can be VERY painful, due to pressure inside the ear drum so treating with pain killers like paracetamol +/- ibuprofen is the main treatment.
If fevers and pain are ongoing for more than 3 days, then we sometimes advise antibiotics. ...Read more
That depends: Ear pain should be evaluated. An ear infection can lead to meningitis, hearing loss, chronic ear drum perforation and other problems. Some ear infections might be treated without an antibiotic, but that's a decision you should make with your doctor. Tumors of the throat and tonsil can also cause ear pain, as can sinus infection.
