Three swollen cervical lymph nodes all on left side of neck some ear pain doctor HS seen one of them says wait 2 month fbc normal should I be worried?

Lymph nodes: The lymph nodes usually enlarge as response to an infection in the vicinity. It lasts maximum 2-3 weeks and as the infection goes away (with antibiotics usually) the lymph nodes disappear. Outside this scenario, I would be worried and demand further investigation (ct is appropriate, a blood smear and CBC with differential, as well as a bmp with enzymes markers analysis) up to an excision biopy. ...Read more

Probable muscle pull: There are a series of muscles behind the ear involved in the movement of the head. Pulling one of these muscles could easily cause the pain you describe. If that is the case there are some conservative measures you could do to make it better. There are also some pinched nerves that can cause pain in that area. To sort it out completely a little more info would help. Such as pain moving. ...Read more

Ear pain and pain under jaw pain even in back neck all left side. Dr said no ear infection just red. But I can't even sleep it hurts so bad?

Red?: What does he/she mean "red"? No diagnosis? Might be a TMJ disorder. I'd have an oral surgeon look at you. If TMJ, see a TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals. ...Read more

What causes severe ear pain when I am sleeping?

What causes severe ear pain when I am sleeping?

Rule out dental pain: I recently answered this question. But I am happy to repeat my suggestion. There are many structures at the side of the face. The ear is only one. The jaw joint, the jaw muscles, teeth, nerves and blood vessels are located at the side of the face but people always assume that pain at the side of the face is coming from the ear. If there is no hearing loss, think of dental or jaw muscles. ...Read more

Really bad ear pain from sleeping on it. Any solution?

TMD: Sleeping on the ear should make you suspicious of inflammation of the jaw joint. It is remarkable that most people do not think of the jaw and jaw muscles as a source of pain. I tell my patients to think of their ear as being on top of their heads, and then ask them what their complaint is. Only then do they realize that at the side of the face is the jaw joint, the jaw muscles and the teeth. ...Read more

If I usually sleep through flights, is there anyway to prevent the problems I have with ear pain on these long flights?

If I usually sleep through flights, is there anyway to prevent the problems I have with ear pain on these long flights?

Awaken for landing: The ear issue on flights occurs when the pressurized plane begins to descend to ground level. Air was pushed out of your middle ear space at high altitude balancing the altitude change on your system. As you return to ground level, you need to be awake to yawn, chew gum or otherwise straighten your eustacian tube so air can re-enter your middle ear & equalize the changing pressure. Pain should stop. ...Read more

Symptoms: Sore throat (and tonsil stones), swollen tonsils, ear pain, sneezing, and runny nose. Also trouble sleeping and general weakness. Ideas?

I wonder: Are you using antihistamines for allergy symptoms? A side effect can be mouth dryness, which could worsen tonsil stones. These are mineralized deposits in the tonsillar crevices exacerbated by chronic nasal/throat inflammation. Warm salt water gargle may help.
