Ear Pain Both Ears
Keep getting bad ear pain, both ears. Throbs about 5 minutes then goes away. Also have tooth sensitivity. Sound like infection?
Not enough: Not enough information to be able to diagnose. Bilateral ear pain not suggestive of infection, sensitive teeth may indicate tooth or gum infection. Please see your Dentist now. The longer you wait, the more serious your problem can become. ...Read more
Have neck/forehead pain. Popping sounds in necl when I turn my head. Ear pain both ears. Dull arm pain. CT/MRI's on head/brain were normal. Help!
Localization: Your description doesn't provide enough detail to localize the symptoms; if you haven't seen a neurologist, that might be a consideration to aid in assessment. But certainly a second opinion if you have might also be an option. And you should speak with your physician who ordered the imaging in the first place to determine if they have thoughts on the differential diagnosis. ...Read more
Can tension headache cause ear pain? Nose keeps "popping"- extreme pressure of head behind eyes & all around and ear pain both ears
I am having ear pain in both ears for a few weeks now. I'm using ear drops. The pain goes away for a little while but comes back again. What's up with me?
Intermittent sharp/throbbing ear pain on both ears, feels deep and felt behind the ear and down the neck, lasts several seconds, ringing in both ears, experienced ear popping several times; no infection, no discharge, no head trauma. Possible causes?
Ear pain in both ears, slight sore throat and recurring headache. Advil (ibuprofen) isn't helping. What could be the problem?
I would recommend: You see your doctor today or tomorrow. You may have an ear infection, viral or strep throat and/or sinus infection. These are best diagnosed by an exam by your doctor so that you can be properly treated, especially if the Advil (ibuprofen) isn't helping. Advil (ibuprofen) is an anti inflammatory med and pain killer; it doesn't treat the cause of your symptoms, so it's not surprising that it's not helping. ...Read more
Can persitent ear pain in 1 or both ears be a symtom of early hiv? Ear pain is (in eustachian tubes) pressure pain and feel full and block at times
Sinus disease: This is not a manifestation of HIV disease. Acute HIV infection could present like a 'mono' type illness- fever, sore throat, feeling washed out, lymph node enlargement, etc. What you describe is sinus disease (ear-nose-throat are connected!) Recommend to see your primary doc or an ENT if not much benefit from the first round of treatments (decongestants, increased fluid intake, etc). ...Read more

My wife has ear pain in both ears, she cannot hear very well and now has eye discharge following a bad cold. Are antibiotics needed?
ET dysfunction: Usually the combination of these symptoms is due to inflammation in the sinuses. Because the ears connect to the nasal passages (via the eustachian tubes) and the eyes connect to the nose (via the tear ducts), an infection or inflammation of the sinuses can cause all of these. Try saline nose spray/rinse, benadryl, (diphenhydramine) etc but if not improving, see a doctor. ...Read more

Is it normal to get ear pain and tinnitis when you push hard against the masseter? Can this last for weeks? Can one side cause problems for both ears?
Yes: Pushing the masseter muscle can hurt the ear and also close the canal. It can cause symptoms of TMJ disease, especially if there is any problems in the canal. If the canal is closed you may hear abnormal sounds or sounds that you didn't notice. It is often hard to localize the side these sounds come from. Inner ear problems can cause similar symptoms. See ENT doc. ...Read more

Child has earache in both ears after a cold, but is acting fine, no fever how long is it safe to wait and see?
If there is no fever: And the child is otherwise well, it is safe to wait a few days, unless other symptoms develop or the child has chronic ear infections. The majority of ear infections are caused by viruses and would go away without antibiotic treatment. Of course if the child has an underlying medical problem or is less than 1 year of age, I would not wait and would recommend calling the doctor. ...Read more

I've been told I have otosclerosis and have too have hearing aids as I have 15% hearing loss in both ears I am in constant pain with earache with it?
Need specialist eval: Your complaints of pain would not be due to otosclerosis. You need an ear nose and throat specialist evaluation to determine the cause of your pain. Having earache fever and decreased hearing after a cold. Am I too old for an ear infection? Can both ears be involved or only one?

Etiology: Ear pain or otalgia is not necessarily the result of ear disease. If your hearing is essentially normal, the most common cause of otalgia is disease of the dental structures, jaw muscle spasm, dental infection, arthritis of the jaw joint. Other causes of referred pain can reflect diseases of the neck (cervical arthritis) or diseases of the throat or even larynx. Easing pain requires a diagnosis. ...Read more
