Clogged Sinuses: It sounds like you have an ear or sinus infection which could be viral or bacterial (less common). If you have a fever and /or tenderness over your cheek bones or forehead see a doctor now. This could also be seasonal allergies and an over the counter allergy/sinus medicine might help. One of the best ways to open clogged sinuses is to use saline washes, see netti pot. ...Read more

He seems to be having ear pain, pressure build up and shooting pains in the ear canal. What could this be and is there any over-the-counter drugs 4 it?
Otitis media: Sounds like an ear infection. I would recommend seeing a doctor for antibiotics that will specifically target the most common bacteria that cause otitis media. I can't be sure without a physical exam, but if this continues, have a physician take a peak into his ear to see if there is an infection behind the eardrum. If it gets worse, fever does not break, etc, get to doc sooner. ...Read more

Why is it every time my sinuses get cloged my ear hurts and when I cough the back of my head hurts? What can I do to alliveate the ear pain/pressure?
Several causes: The ear fullness is either referred from the maxillary sinuses, inflammation of the nasopharynx from the drainage or infection, or swelling of the eustachian tubes. The headache is either from transient blood pressure increases during the cough causing swelling of the sinus linings or temporary distension of the veins inside the skull which are very sensitive (cough headache). ...Read more

Ear pain/pressure/dizzy x 5weeks. Ent gave ear drops (eardrums slight inflamed)/abx. No relief. Suggestions? Thanks
Try decongestant: Your symptoms may be due to eustachian tube dysfunction, where the tubes that connect the middle ear to the back of the throat are blocked so pressure builds up in the middle ear. Decongestants like sudafed can help relieve the symptoms (as long as there is no reason you can't take decongestants such as uncontrolled high blood pressure). ...Read more
