Get it checked out: Each person's recovery time after surgery varies. I would however return to the dentist and have them check to be sure the healing is progressing. If that checks out OK, then see a medical doctor. Read more

A few ideas.: Depends on symptoms, and cause of symptoms. 3 signs of TMJ dysfunction: joint noises, joint pain & limited oral opening. Self treat with soft diet, jaw exercises, massage, heat/cold, OTC pain meds. A splint or physical therapy would be next. Occasionally muscle relaxants, biofeedback. Xrays are done for diagnosis. Surgery usually reserved for serious symptoms not responsive to other treatments. Read more

Dry socket: Most common time for onset of dry socket is 3 to 7 days following surgery. If antibiotics were not prescribed it is also possible to have an infection of the site. Fever might accompany the infection. In either case contact the office you were seen at or your dentist if by a specialist. Either can prescribe antibiotics or place a dressing. Read more
